GAF shall not be responsible for any change or amendment to the GAF roof specifications used in the construction of your roof unless approved in writing by an authorized GAF Field Services Manager or Director.

This limited warranty MAY BE SUSPENDED OR CANCELLED IF THE ROOF IS DAMAGED BY any cause listed above as AN EXCLUSION FROM COVERAGE that may affect the integrity or watertightness of the roof.

TRANSFERABILITY/ASSIGNABILITY

This limited warranty may be transferred or assigned only ONCE. The second owner must notify GAF in writing within 60 days after the property transfer has occurred and pay a fee of $250 for any coverage to be transferred. Other than this one transfer, this warranty may not be transferred or assigned by contract or by operation of law, either directly or indirectly.

LIMITATION OF DAMAGES; MEDIATION; JURISDICTION; CHOICE OF LAW

THIS WARRANTY IS EXPRESSLY IN LIEU OF ANY OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, and of any other obligations or liability of GAF, whether any claim against it is based upon negligence, breach of warranty, or any other theory. In NO event shall GAF be liable for any CONSEQUENTIAL OR INCIDENTAL DAMAGES of any kind, including, but not limited to, interior or exterior damage and/or mold growth.

The parties agree that, as a condition precedent to litigation, any controversy or claim relating to this warranty shall be first submitted to mediation before a mutually acceptable mediator. In the event that mediation is unsuccessful, the parties agree that neither one will commence or prosecute any lawsuit or proceeding other than before the appropriate state or federal court in the State of New Jersey. This warranty shall be governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, without regard to principles of conflicts of laws. Each party irrevocably consents to the jurisdiction and venue of the above identified courts.

NOTE: Some states do not allow limitations on or the exclusion of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitations or exclusions may not apply to you. This limited warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state.

NOTE: This warranty becomes effective only when all bills for installation and supplies have been paid in full to the roofing contractor and materials sup-pliers, and the warranty charge has been paid to GAF.

This warranty must have a raised seal to be valid.

Manufacturer Georgia-Pacific Gypsum Georgia-Pacific Canada 133 Peachtree Street 2180 Meadowvale Boulevard, Suite 200 Atlanta, GA 30303 Mississauga, ON L5N 5S3 Technical Service Hotline: 1-800-225-6119

Description DensDeck® Roof Board is an exceptional fire barrier, thermal barrier, coverboard and recovery board used in various commercial roofing systems. The DensDeck Roof Board design employs fiberglass mats front and back that are mechanically bonded to a high density gypsum core, providing excellent fire resistance and wind uplift properties. The unique construction of DensDeck Roof Board provides superior flute spanning that stiffens and provides increased foot traffic resistance to the roof deck. Additionally, DensDeck Roof Board has been shown to withstand delamination, deterioration and job-site damage far more effectively than roofing membrane substrates such as paperfaced gypsum board, fiberboard and perlite insulation. DensDeck Roof Board has scored a 10, the highest level of performance for mold resistance per the ASTM D3273 test method.

Primary Uses Roof system manufacturers and designers have found DensDeck Roof Board to be compatible with many types of roofing systems, including: built-up, modified bitumen, single ply, metal systems, wood shingle and shake, tile, slate, as well as a recovery board and overlayment protection board for polyisocyanurate and polystyrene insulation.

DensDeck Roof Board can also be used as a form board for poured gypsum concrete deck in roof applications as well as a substrate for spray foam roofing systems. 1/2” (12.7 mm) and 5/8” (15.9 mm) DensDeck Roof Board may also be used in vertical applications as a backer board or liner for the roof side of parapet walls.

Some membrane manufacturers have hot mop asphalt or torch applications directly to DensDeck Roof Board without using a primer or base sheet. Consult with the system manufacturer for their recommendations with this application. DensDeck Roof Board is the preferred substrate for vapor retarders.

Standards and Code Approvals DensDeck Roof Boards are manufactured to meet ASTM C1177 and have the following approvals:

• Florida Product Approved

• Miami-Dade County, Product Control Approved

Recommendations and Limitations DensDeck Roof Boards are manufactured to act with a properly designed roof system following good roofing practices. The actual use of DensDeck Roof Board as a roofing component in any system or assembly is the responsibility of the roofing system’s design authority. Consult with the appropriate system manufacturer and/or design authority for system and assembly specifications and instructions on applying other products to DensDeck Roof Board. Georgia-Pacific does not warrant and is not responsible for any systems or assemblies utilizing DensDeck Roof Board or any component in such systems or assemblies other than DensDeck Roof Board.

The need for a separator sheet between the DensDeck Roof Board and the roofing membrane must be determined by the roof membrane manufacturer or roofing system designer.

Confirm any priming requirements with the membrane manufacturer. When applying solvent-based adhesives or primers, allow sufficient time for the solvent to flash off to avoid damage to roofing components.

DensDeck Roof Boards should not be subjected to abnormal or excessive loads or foot traffic, such as, but not limited to, use on plaza decks or under steel-wheeled equipment that may fracture or damage the panels. Provide suitable roofing system protection when required.

When using DensDeck Roof Boards for hot-mopped applications, Georgia-Pacific recommends maximum asphalt application temperatures of 425°F (218°C) to 450°F (232°C). Application temperatures above these recommended temperatures may adversely affect roof system performance. Consult and follow the roofing system manufacturer’s specifications for full mopping applications and temperature requirements.

Conditions beyond the control of Georgia-Pacific, such as weather conditions, dew, leaks, application temperatures and techniques may cause adverse effects with roofing systems.

Moisture Management DensDeck Roof Boards, like other components used in roofing systems, must be protected from exposure to moisture before, during and after installation.

Remove the plastic packaging from all DensDeck Roof Board immediately upon receipt of delivery. Failure to remove the plastic packaging may result in entrapment of con-densation or moisture. DensDeck Roof Board stored outside must be stored level and off the ground and protected by a breathable waterproof covering. Provide means for air circulation around and under stored bundles of DensDeck Roof Board. DensDeck Roof Board must be covered the same day as installed.

Avoid application of DensDeck Roof Boards during rain, heavy fog and any other conditions that may deposit moisture on the surface, and avoid the overuse of non-vented, direct-fired heaters during winter months. When roofing systems are installed on new poured concrete or light weight concrete decks or when re-roofing over an existing concrete deck, a vapor barrier should be installed above the concrete to limit the migration of water from the concrete into the roof assembly. Always consult the roofing system manufacturer or design authority for specific instructions for applying other products to DensDeck Roof Boards.

Moisture vapor movement by convection must be eliminated, and the flow of water by gravity through imperfections in the roof system must be controlled. After a leak has occurred, no condensation on the upper surface of the system should be tolerated, and the water introduced by the leak must be dissipated to the building interior in a minimum amount of time.

Although DensDeck Roof Boards are engineered with fiberglass facings and high density gypsum cores, the presence of free moisture can have a detrimental effect on the performance of the product and the installation of roofing membranes. For example, hot asphalt applications can blister; torched modified bitumen may not properly bond;

and adhesives for single ply membranes may not dry properly. Moisture accumulation may also significantly decrease wind uplift and vertical pull resistance in the system or assembly. DensDeck Roof Boards containing excessive free moisture content may need to be evaluated for structural stability to assure wind uplift performance.

For a roof that combines good looks, flexibility and strength, VP’s SLR II Standing Seam Roof delivers an attractive and versatile solution.

SLR II panels are standard in either 24 gauge steel or 22 gauge steel with a 2 inch standing seam. Panels are factory-formed to VP’s exact specifications. Further, panels are factory punched and notched to ensure better fit and modularity on longer panel lengths. The panel is 16” wide and is available in lengths up to 50’. Shipping restrictions may limit the length. The panel includes a factory installed sealant bead in the side joint for increased weathertightness.

SLR II panels are field-machine seamed in-place, yielding a single unit membrane. The panels are installed with thermally responsive galvanized panel clips combining a 22 gauge hook and a 16 gauge base. These clips allow for thermal movement 1” in either direction. SLR II’s concealed clips attach the panels to structural members and minimize the need for through-the-roof fasteners. SLR II can be installed over a variety of substrates or open framing. While typically used on higher slopes and high profile roofs, roof slopes can be as low as ¼:12. SLR II roof systems include a selection of architecturally detailed ridge, gable and sidewall trims to give your building an attractive finished appearance and long-term weathertight performance.

SLR II roofs can accommodate up to 6 inches of fiberglass blanket insulation for high levels of energy efficiency.

All gauges of SLR II roof are available with KXL finish in 21 “cool rated” color options as well as unpainted Galvalume. See VP’s Architectural Roof Colors (#6020) for selections.

VP’s KXL paint system is a PVDF finish applied to the Galvalume® surface to give a long-life color that resists fading and chalking. KXL is a 1 mil nom. PVDF finish with a 70% Kynar®500 or Hylar®5000 standard.

UL 90 wind uplift rating is available with supports at 5’-0” on center. SLR II is also US Army Corps of Engineers approved for wind uplift resistance.

Congratulations on your purchase of a Varco Pruden building. Varco Pruden

Buildings A Division of BlueScope Buildings North America Inc. (VP) is recognized as a leader in the Metal Building industry, and as a member of the Metal Building

Manufacturers’ Association, adheres to all principles and regulations prescribed.

You can expect your building to be the best the industry can offer; designed by experienced engineers, and fabricated from the highest quality materials by people thoroughly trained and dedicated to perform their job to the excellence prescribed.

This building has been designed by VP especially for you, according to the specifications supplied by your Builder. Any modification can jeopardize the design integrity of the building. Before removing, moving, or altering any building component, and before hanging any excessive loads from the building’s members, be sure to call your Builder.

This booklet has been prepared to suggest preventative maintenance procedures to assure a lasting, quality product.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask your Builder.

BE AWARE; TAKE CARE OF YOUR NEW BUILDING:

· Periodic traffic across the roof can cause leaks. If you intend to use the roof in this manner or need to access rooftop units, contact your Builder to install an approved walkway system that will keep foot traffic on panels to a minimum.

Excessive foot traffic may affect the warranty.

· Caulking, sealants, rubber boots and plastics have limited lives. Periodic replacement, repair, re-sealing joints and replacing loose fasteners are considered routine building maintenance, which is the owner’s responsibility and is not covered by any warranties.

· Excessive snow/ice storms can cause damage to the structural members as well as the water drainage system. Extended time with snow or ice on the roof can also cause the premature deterioration of the finish on your roof panel.

It is the owner’s responsibility to remove snow that is considered excessive for your region, and free drains of ice. See item #15 for more details.

· The atmosphere contains elements that can shorten the life of your metal roof and wall.

To ensure warranty compliance, annually wash dirt and grime from your roof, particularly along the eave. Remove debris from the gutters and downspouts and wash dirt and snowdrift marks from the metal wall panels. If you submit a claim in regards to the finish of your building, proper maintenance records may be required to show proof that you have complied with the requirements of this manual.

· Roof top HVAC Units MUST HAVE proper drainage plumbing using PVC materials such that condensation, leakage, solvents, and/or chemicals from the unit DO NOT come in contact with the roof surface or all warranties will be void.

Be sure HVAC drains run off the roof and away from the wall panel, as drainage from an HVAC unit will also void the finish warranty on your wall panel.

· Corrosive Agents must not be allowed in contact with metal panels. Copper is particularly corrosive to steel and coatings. DO NOT allow copper materials of any source to come in contact with metal panels. Also do not allow graphite or lead to come into contact with the metal panels. DO NOT allow condensation of runoff from copper materials to contact metal panels. Lumber must not contact directly on metal panels. Chemicals leaching out of treated lumber will also cause damage and void your warranty.

· Steel or Iron pipe must be painted or coated to prevent rust on panels

· Soil coming in contact with painted metal wall panels will damage the factory baked on finish. Be sure to restrain soil from coming in contact with the painted surface of your wall panels. Also restrict foliage from brushing against the panels and remove any concrete or asphalt left on panels by the construction crew.

· Translucent panels (skylights) will deteriorate and discolor over time.

· Check exhaust stacks periodically for corrosion. If the exhaust is causing corrosion, extend the stack or coat panels with protective coating.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE OF PREPAINTED METAL SIDING

AND ACCESSORIES

Cleaning Paint Surfaces Dirt pickup may cause apparent discoloration of the paint when it has been exposed to dirt-laden atmospheres for long periods of time. Slight chalking may cause some change in appearance in areas of strong sunlight. A good cleaning will often restore the appearance of these buildings and render repainting unnecessary. An occasional light cleaning will help maintain a good appearance.

In many cases, simply washing the building with plain water using hoses or pressure sprays will be adequate. In areas where heavy dirt deposits dull the surface, a solution of water and detergent (1/3 cup Tide per gallon of water for example) may be used. A soft bristle brush with a long handle may be useful. A clear water rinse should follow.

Mildew may occur in areas subject to high humidity, but is not normally a problem due to the high inherent mildew resistance of the baked finishes. However, mildew can grow on dirt and spore deposits. To remove mildew the following solution is recommended:

1/3 cup detergent (e.g. Tide) 2/3 cup tri-sodium phosphate (e.g. DAP T.S.P.)

1-quart sodium hypochlorite 5% solution (e.g. Clorox) 3 quarts water

Strong solvent and abrasive type cleaners should be avoided. Caulking compounds, lubricate, grease, tars, wax and similar substances can be removed by wiping with a cloth soaked with mineral spirits. Wipe only contaminated areas and follow with detergent cleaning and thorough rinsing.

Panel Touch-Up

If panel finish is scratched or is to be repainted, contact a qualified contractor to ensure touch-up or paint is compatible with original finish. Touch-up pens are available in various colors from various vendors. Call your local Service Center for further assistance. See cover sheet for phone numbers.
