3.4. Project Vision & Site Plan

Description

The existing playground at Southside Park was a community fundraised, traditional playground project built in 1997. The vision for it's replacement comes from community feedback and modern playground standards and amenities. In addition to meeting ADA standards for accessibility, the project envisions accessible sidewalk connectivity, shade structures, benches, fencing, some unitary safety surfacing, and native tree planting.

Per the site plan attached and explained below, the concept includes separated areas for 6 month-5 year old's, 5 year old's to 12 year old's, swing set area, and zipline or other concept area. Each area is separated by sidewalks and enclosed with fencing and access gates around the perimeter. Shade structures (cantilevered or otherwise) are strategically located throughout each area.

Site Plan

See Southside Park: Conceptual Site Plan by Davis & Floyd attached. This plan is meant to guide playground proposals in the overall layout and design of the project. Awarded bidders are expected to work with the County and Davis & Floyd as Davis & Floyd prepares final construction drawings, permitting, and construction administration. Minor changes to alignment, square footage of play areas will be allowed to meet fall zone requirements, minimize unused surfacing spaces, and other design considerations

Vision
