LOCATION: Carlyle State Fish and Wildlife Area

PROJECT TITLE: South Pump Station Discharge Rehab

PROJECT NARRATIVE:

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources, hereinafter referred to as DNR, is seeking quotes to replace the existing slide gate located on the south pump station discharge pipe and replace it with an internal check valve. The reason for the change is for safety to prevent personnel from standing in high flowing water while operating the slide gate. The type of check valve proposed does not require site staff to operate.

SCOPE OF WORK:

This project will consist of a contractor providing all labor, the check valve and equipment necessary to remove the existing 36” slide gate, install a Duck-Bill check valve, then re-install the existing slide gate. The new check valve will be installed between the existing 36” slide gate and the existing 36” ductile iron flange. The check valve specified will be a 36” Model RF-DBI-LH Duck-Bill check valve, with a 150# Flanged outlet, and a 1.25” flange thickness.

The contractor will be responsible to verify all dimensions prior to biding this project.

This is a picture of the existing slide gate, which is located on the banks of the Kaskaskia River. The slide gate is accessible with equipment from on top of the levee.

PROJECT SPECIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

A. Project Specifications:

1) The awarded contractor must have 10 years of experience in the commercial construction field industry and be able to provide documentation of completion of at least 5 projects similar in size and scope to this one.

2) The check valve will be a Model RF-DBI-LH Duck-Bill Check Valve, 150# Flanged Outlet, 1.25” Flange thickness.

3) “Or Equal” the bidder can submit alternative products that meet the same specification.
