About this file
This is a Scope of Work document prepared by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) for the Phillip W Schneider Wildlife Area Murderers Creek South Flats Seed Purchase project. The project addresses wildfire recovery following the Rail Ridge Fire, which burned approximately 38,000 acres of the wildlife area in summer and fall 2024. ODFW seeks to seed up to 2,500 acres with a specified native seed mix to re-establish perennial grasses and promote a more fire-resilient landscape for mule deer enhancement. The contractor must supply approximately 17,000 pounds of seed based on seeding up to 1,000 acres at 11 pounds per acre, delivered in 50-pound bags to Phillip W Schneider Wildlife Area, 45403 Highway 26, Dayville, Oregon 97825 on or before December 15, 2025. The seed mix consists of Pure Live Seed (PLS) percentages as follows: Bluebunch Wheatgrass (30%), Thickspike Wheatgrass (30%), Bottlebrush Squirreltail (10%), Sherman Big Bluegrass (10%), Crested Wheatgrass (10%), and Ladak Alfalfa (10%). Seeding work is anticipated to occur between October and February during 2025 and 2026, with timing critical to appropriate weather conditions.
Payment will be issued as a single lump sum upon receipt and acceptance of the seed delivery. Contractor selection will be based on meeting all required specifications, demonstrated quality through reviews, competitive pricing, and available timing for delivery. ODFW will be present at the time of delivery and the contractor is responsible for notifying ODFW of the anticipated delivery date. The project is funded through ODFW's available mule deer enhancement funds, with portions allocated specifically for seed purchase as part of the broader post-fire habitat restoration effort.
