About this file
This document is a set of Questions and Answers (Q&As) related to a Sources Sought notice for a Mobile Pallet Racking System. The key details are:
The agency is seeking capabilities statements and/or cost estimates for a mobile pallet racking system to be installed in a USPFO CIF warehouse. The system must include two new rows of pallet racking, each 47'1 1/2" long and 16'6 7/8" high, with 4 beam levels per bay. It must also include the installation of two mobile carriages on surface-mounted rails, as well as modifications to the existing pallet racking. The system must meet specific requirements for weight capacity, electrical wiring, OSHA compliance, and other technical specifications outlined in the Q&As. A site visit is required prior to submission to ensure accurate measurements. The contractor will be responsible for all material, equipment, and services required for the installation.

1. Are you looking for quotes and proposals or capabilities statement? Is this an RFP solicitation or sources sought? This is a sources sought. Capabilities statements and/or estimates would be useful submissions.
2. Can you provide drawings of the work site and racking layout?
Photos provided:
31’.2”
7’.4”
This middle section will need to be put into a mobile carriage and identical racking will need to be sourced with mobile carriage. Both end sections will remain stationary.
3. Is there any damage to the existing racking system that will be reused/relocated? No
4. Is the existing racking system structural or selective? Current pallet racking is stationary and is bolted to the floor. It does not move in any manner.
5. What is the height of the existing racking system? Approximately 20’ to the top beam level
6. Are mobile carriages being provided by the Customer or is the Contractor required to source and fulfill these materials as well? Contractor must source.
7. Is the requirement or preference for Drive-in pallet racking? Standard pallet racking as shown in the photo.
8. Can contractor perform mandatory walk-through post-award? No, total cost up will need to be known up front which can only be determined by a pre-award walk through.
9. Item C references grating: c. All new beam levels will include grating that allows for the placement and storage of standard pallets. is this referring to wire deck meshing for pallet support? Yes, waterfall decking.
10. What is the width of each pallet rack bay (length of beams)? Each beam can hold 2 standard pallets side by side. Each beam is 9’ wide.
11. What is the depth of the pallet rack bays? 40” deep
12. When you have back-to-back pallet racking, you usually need a 6-12” flue space. What would you like quoted? If you are talking about the space in between the pallet racking where it is ed together by the cross beams ours is currently 9”.
13. What is the weight capacity required for each beam level? Current weight per beam level is 4k. It must be that at a minimum and 12k per bay minimum.
14. How wide should the aisle be between the mobile carriages? Carriages need to fully collapse le and right to the staonary pallet racking to allow for maximum forkli workspace. The largest forkli is 10.5’ from the p of the forks to the back of the machine. That forkli needs to be able to safely operate in between the racking.
