About this file

This Sources Sought/Notice of Intent is issued by the US Army Special Operations Command for a Carl-Gustaf (CG) M4 Indoor Trainer (IDT) Gunnery Unit. The document seeks to identify potential sources capable of providing a training simulator for the Carl Gustaf weapon system, with current market research indicating only one vendor (SAAB, Inc.) can fulfill the requirement. The trainer will enable students and instructors to practice weapon system operations without physical blast exposure, allowing for increased training repetitions and improved proficiency at reduced cost.

Interested sources must submit documentation by 12:00 PM EST on 28 March 2025, electronically emailed to Jonathan.long.civ@socom.mil. Respondents are required to provide company details including full name, UEI number, NAICS code, business size/type, and point of contact. The delivery location is Fort Bragg, NC. If no other capable sources are identified, USASOC intends to negotiate a sole source contract with SAAB, Inc. (located in Orlando, FL). Respondents will not be individually notified of results, but a Notice of Intent to Sole Source will be posted on SAM.gov if the sole source determination is verified.

SOURCES SOUGHT/ NOTICE OF INTENT 24 March 2025

US Army Special Operations Command Special Warfare Center and School Carl-Gustaf (CG) M4 Indoor Trainer (IDT) Gunnery Unit H92239-25-P-0009

The purpose of this sources sought / notice of intent is to provide industry the opportunity to identify themselves as interested sources capable of meeting the requirement of providing a Carl-Gustaf (CG) M4 Indoor Trainer (IDT) Gunnery Unit.

The information sought herein shall not be construed as a request for quote (RFQ), request for proposal (RFP), Invitation for Bid (IFB), or as an obligation or commitment on the part of the Government to acquire any product or service. There shall be no basis for claims against the Government as a result of information submitted in response to the Sources Sought. Current market research shows that there is only one vendor capable of fulfilling the requirement. However, it is the Government’s intent to include responses to this Sources Sought when making its final determination to negotiate on a sole source basis.

The Carl Gustav Trainer will provide both students and instructors the means to effectively train on the use of the Carl Gustaf weapon system without the risk of blast exposure. Carl Gustaf Trainer will allow students to gain valuable high-quality repetitions on the weapon system without exposing them to dangerous physical effects of repetitive blasts ultimately prolonging the health of our students/operators.

Additionally, the Carl Gustaf Trainer will significantly increase the number of times a student is able to perform crew drills to operate and engage targets with the recoilless rifle in a realistic operational setting.

This will result in higher training proficiency that will proliferate across the force faster. It will also provide the 18B Students and the greater USASOC enterprise the ability to further refine and enhance their proficiency and lethality in the weapon system at reduced cost.

Delivery will be at:

Fort Bragg, NC 28310
