This is a Sources Sought Notice issued by the United States Geological Survey (USGS), Southwest Biological Science Center, Grand Canyon Monitoring and Research Center, for market research purposes. The notice seeks qualified small business concerns to supply approximately 37,000 preloaded 12mm Passive Integrated Transponder (PIT) tags for fish monitoring activities in the Colorado River and Little Colorado River. This is not a solicitation and no contract or purchase order will be awarded; responses are for market research only to determine acquisition strategy.

The PIT tags must be 12mm, preloaded into injectable needles, compliant with ISO 11784/11785 FDX-B specifications, activated by 134.2 kHz electromagnetic fields, and suitable for riverine fish monitoring. Critically, the tags must be compatible with the Government's existing Biomark PIT scanners, Biomark PIT tag guns, and autonomous antenna systems, or respondents must provide technical data demonstrating equivalency. Base delivery is required by August 31, 2026, with optional quantities due September 10 and September 20, 2026. Interested vendors must submit a capability statement (maximum 3 pages) electronically to joel_berberena@ios.doi.gov addressing technical capabilities, compatibility documentation, lead times, support services, business size under NAICS 334419 (Other Electronic Component Manufacturing), and identification of any known limitations or deviations. The notice is limited to small businesses with a 750-employee size standard and uses PSC Code 2060 (Commercial Fishing Equipment).
