About this file
This is a Sources Sought Notice issued by the Department of Veterans Affairs for Ultrasound System and Linear Probes (36C24126Q0795). The VA seeks to determine if domestically manufactured items are capable of meeting its requirements for vascular access procedure support. The ultrasound system comprises two components: an ultrasound system with a 15.6-inch touchscreen, battery operation, linear probe for vascular imaging, vessel assessment tools, tip confirmation system using ECG technology, needle tracking technology, and workflow/data management capabilities with patient data lookup and auto-fill functions. The linear probe interfaces with the ultrasound system to provide needle tracking, tip confirmation, and automatic vessel detection and measurement. Both items must be FDA 510(k) cleared and commercially available since November 2023. The delivery location is the VA Medical Center in Providence, Rhode Island, with a performance period of 90 calendar days after contract award.
Interested parties must submit a 2-3 page written Capability Statement (no pricing) by September 16, 2026, at 2:00 PM ET to Pearl Wray at pearl.wray@va.gov. The statement must include country of origin, warranty information, delivery lead time, company legal name and contact information, SAM.gov UEI number, and CVE certification status for SDVOSB and VOSB firms. Respondents must be registered in SAM.gov at time of award. The NAICS code is 334510 (Electromedical and Electrotherapeutic Apparatus Manufacturing) with a size standard of 1,250 employees, and the Product Service Code is 6515 (Medical and Surgical Instruments, Equipment, and Supplies). Questions may be submitted by September 8, 2026, at 2:00 PM ET.

PROCUREMENT TITLE: Ultrasound System and Linear Probes
SOURCES SOUGHT PURPOSE: The purpose of this Sources Sought Notice is to determine if there are domestically manufactured items capable of meeting the VA’s supplying domestically manufactured items that meet the Governments’ requirement.
WORK DESCRIPTION: The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking an Ultrasound System comprised of the two items described below. The system is primarily intended to support vascular access procedures, including the placement of peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs), central venous catheters, intravenous (IV) lines, and other vascular access devices.
Purpose of this requirement is to improve clinician efficiency, reduce insertion attempts, and enhance patient safety by providing real-time visualization of vessels and catheter tips.
SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS: Salient Characteristics are described in the chart below.
DESCRIPTION SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS UNIT AND QTY
Ultrasound System 15.6" touchscreen that offers enhanced image quality and a more user-friendly interface
Linear probe for focused vascular imaging.
Battery-operated for portability and ease of use in various clinical settings.
Vessel assessment tools that automatically detect vessels and pair with measurement tools to calculate catheter to vein ratio, aiding in informed device selection and alignment with INS standards
Tip Confirmation System which uses ECG to ensure the catheter tip is placed in the distal superior vena cava, near the cavo atrial junction.
Needle Tracking Technology that provides continuous, real time needle tracking during insertion to improve accuracy and reduce multiple needlesticks
Workflow & Data Management Patient data look up with auto fill and records transfer capabilities to streamline documentation and maintain data integrity
