About this file

This is a Statement of Need for an Infant Warmer system required by the Eastern Colorado HealthCare System at Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center in Aurora, Colorado. The document outlines the clinical requirements for neonatal care equipment that must support preterm and critically ill newborns across labor and delivery, NICU, and transport settings.

The required infant warmer must include dual radiant heating elements with central and peripheral temperature sensors, a viscoelastic foam mattress with optional heated gel mattress, and integrated respiratory support with gas mixing capabilities delivering precise FiO2, flow, pressure, respiratory rate, and PEEP. Additional specifications include comprehensive patient monitoring with real-time ECG and SpO2 integration to hospital clinical information systems, an integrated smart scale for accurate weighing with bed-tilt capabilities, color touchscreen interface configurable for multiple care settings, and family-centered care features supporting skin-to-skin bonding with reduced nuisance alarms. The system must accommodate patients up to 22 lbs (10 kg), operate within ambient temperatures of 64-95°F with adjustable device height from 70.87 to 86.61 inches, maintain operating noise below 40 dB(A), include disposable breathing circuits and single-use accessories for infection prevention, provide X-ray compatibility, and feature ergonomic storage with height-adjustable trolley and gas cylinder holders. Manufacturer-supported preventive maintenance, inspections, and original part replacement are required. Delivery must occur at the loading dock in Aurora, Colorado, available Monday-Friday from 0700-1500 hours excluding federal holidays.
