14. Existing Conditions Mansfield Hollow Dike B is a remote site, therefore has no utilities or restroom facilities.

The crest of Dike B is paved with asphalt and is approximately 11’ wide with steel cable guide rails on both sides.

Access to site is restricted to vehicles by a locked gate. Contractor will be given a combination for lock to access site as needed once contract is awarded.

Mansfield Hollow Dam Dike B utilizes a single Chapman Valve Manufacturing Company 48” x 60” Table 4 Sluice Gate, which was installed in 1949 and is manually operated by hand crank or by ¾” drill.

The actuators, floor stand, stem, stem guides/brackets, stem cover, and stem nut(s) shall be replaced. The sluice gate shall be re-aligned, cleaned, and lubricated. The sluice gate can be access by a series of ladders inside the conduit. (see separate attachment for informational photos and as-built plans).

72”. Inside of operator structure has 3 separate working platforms, all of which are the same size. Access ladder to lower levels is approximately 24” X 22”.

Existing gate stem is approximately 42’ 5 7/8” in overall length and is 3” in diameter.

Gate stem is broken up into three sections with the top section measuring 9’ 6”and the keyway section is 9’in length. The middle section measures 20’ and the last section connecting to the sluice gate measures 11’ 9 1/8”. 2 couplings connect these three stem sections together and again the bottom section connects to the sluice gate itself. Three (3) brackets/stem guides are in place to allow for the gate to travel straight up and down.

These dimensions and more are broken down in the attached informational photos and as-built plans.

This is a permit required confined space.
