About this file
This document is a Notice of Intent to Sole Source for the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), announcing a planned procurement of specialized scientific equipment from NETZSCH Instrument North America, LLC. The acquisition involves a NETZSCH STA 449 F3 Jupiter Compatible Platinum Furnace for the Engineering Laboratory's Fire Research Division, with three specific line items: a Platinum Furnace capable of heating samples up to 1500°C, a TG-DSC Carrier System (with potential trade-in of existing system), and three Pt Rh crucibles with lids.
The sole source justification is based on equipment compatibility with NIST's existing system, with NETZSCH being the only vendor capable of providing fully integrated components. Interested parties can submit capabilities and business information to Marvin Jean via email by August 11, 2025 at 12PM EST. The procurement falls under NAICS code 334516 for Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing, with a small business size standard of 1000 employees. Samyak Solutions Inc. has been identified as the authorized distributor capable of meeting NIST's requirements, though the notice allows for potential alternative sources to demonstrate capability.
