About this file
This document is a Justification for Other than Full and Open Competition form from the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) for a Statista subscription. The CPSC is seeking a sole-source 12-month market research database subscription from Statista Inc. located at 55 Broad Street in New York, NY, to support ongoing regulatory proceedings and compliance actions. The justification indicates that Statista provides comprehensive market research on consumer product markets and industry groups, collecting and categorizing publicly available information from consumer product industry and consumer advocacy associations, which other sources cannot match in breadth of coverage. The procurement is being processed under the justification of "Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements." The Contracting Officer's Representative is Mark Bailey, and the Originating Office is led by Alex Moscoso, with digital signatures from both parties dated May 28, 2025.

Sole Source Justification – Purchase of Statista subscription to market research
CPSC staff is currently using commercial sources of market research information for a variety of consumer products with ongoing regulatory proceedings and compliance actions.
Detailed market information on these products is required to properly inform the Commission before any regulatory or compliance action is taken. The Statista market research database and reports provides general market research on consumer product markets and industry groups. Statista also provides a website that collects and categorizes publically available information. Statista also collects and summarizes a large amount of data from consumer product industry/consumer advocacy associations which generally share this data with their members.
One other source contacted only provides data on a detailed but limited set of consumer products. Statista data and market research covers a very large variety of consumer products but doesn’t typically provide more detailed analysis of niche consumer product markets.
