DESCRIPTION OF REQUIREMENT
Project Title Acquisition of Amersham™ ImageQuant™ [800/500] Imaging System for Enhanced Protein and Nucleic Acid Detection. for Regenerative Therapies for Inherited Blood Disorders Lab ( Dr. Larochelle’s lab)/NHLBI
Statement of Need/Purpose and Objectives Regenerative Therapies for Inherited Blood Disorders Lab ( Dr. Larochelle’s ) at NHLBI requires a high-sensitivity CCD imaging system to replace the outdated imager for the detection and quantification of proteins and nucleic acids. This system is essential for maintaining the laboratory’s workflow and throughput. The transition to a digital CCD-based imager like the ImageQuant is necessary to achieve the high sensitivity required for low-abundance protein detection and to meet NIH Data Management and Sharing (DMS) Policies for digital data archiving.
Product Specifications/Features/Salient Characteristics of Amersham ImageQuant
• Imaging Modalities: It supports Chemiluminescence, Colorimetric, and [Optional: Fluorescence (RGB/NIR)] imaging.
• Detector: Has High-resolution cooled CCD camera (minimum 8.3 megapixels) to provide superior sensitivity and a broad dynamic range.
• Optics: Includes Large aperture lens (e.g., f/0.74 or better) to capture faint signals from low-abundance proteins.
• Automation: Has "SNOW" (Signal-to-Noise Optimization Watch) or equivalent technology to automatically optimize exposure time without pixel saturation.
• Software: It includes analysis software for 1D gel electrophoresis, Western blot normalization, and molecular weight determination.
