STATEMENT OF WORK (SERVICES)
(SOW)
GENERAL INFORMATION
Title of Project:
Repair and Restoration of NanoTemper MST Instrument (Microscale Thermophoresis System)
Statement of Need and Purpose:
The National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) requires repair and restoration of a NanoTemper Technologies Microscale Thermophoresis (MST) instrument.
The MST instrument is currently non-functional and requires comprehensive repair by the original equipment manufacturer (OEM). Due to the proprietary design, calibration requirements, and specialized components of the system, repairs must be performed at the manufacturer’s facility.
This procurement will provide end-to-end repair services including deinstallation, crating, international shipping to the manufacturer’s facility, repair, recalibration, return shipment, and reinstallation to restore full instrument functionality.
Background Information and Objective:
NCATS supports translational research efforts to accelerate the development of therapeutics. The MST instrument is a critical tool used to measure molecular interactions by detecting changes in thermophoretic movement under a temperature gradient.
This capability is essential for:
• Hit validation
• Target engagement studies
• Reagent quality control
• Early-stage project decision-making
The instrument’s current non-functional status significantly impacts research timelines and program deliverables.
Restoration of full functionality is required to resume these critical activities.
Due to the highly specialized and proprietary nature of the instrument, only NanoTemper Technologies is capable of performing the required repairs and requalification.
Period of Performance:
The period of performance shall begin upon award and continue through completion of repair, return shipment, reinstallation, and system verification (estimated based on vendor repair timeline).
SCOPE OF WORK
General Requirements:
The Contractor (NanoTemper Technologies) shall provide all labor, materials, parts, equipment, tools, transportation, logistics, and qualified personnel necessary to perform comprehensive repair and restoration of the MST instrument.
All services shall be performed by OEM-trained and authorized personnel.

The Contractor shall provide a comprehensive, end-to-end repair service for the NanoTemper MST instrument.
The Contractor shall perform an on-site visit at the NIH facility to prepare the instrument for transport. This includes installation of transport safety locks, proper disconnection, and professional packaging of the instrument using appropriate crating materials designed for international shipment.
The Contractor shall arrange and manage all logistics associated with the international shipment of the instrument from NIH to the NanoTemper repair facility in Germany and return shipment back to NIH. This includes provision of shipping containers, coordination of transport, and handling of all required documentation for international shipment as a temporary export for repair and return. Shipping services include delivery of an empty crate and service visits to prepare and release the transport safety lock as outlined in the vendor quote.
The Contractor shall perform a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation and repair of the MST instrument at the OEM facility. Repair services shall include replacement of defective or worn components, system restoration, and full calibration and requalification to ensure the instrument meets manufacturer specifications. The repair may involve intensive work and replacement of critical system components as necessary.
Following completion of repairs, the Contractor shall arrange return shipment of the instrument to NIH and perform on-site reinstallation. This includes removal of transport safety locks, system setup, and verification of proper installation.
The Contractor shall perform system verification to confirm that the instrument is fully functional and operating according to manufacturer specifications. Upon completion, the Contractor shall provide a detailed service report describing the work performed, parts replaced, calibration and requalification results, and confirmation of restored system performance.
All labor, materials, parts, shipping, travel, and logistics required to complete these services shall be included in the total contract price.
