Version 12-23-2025-1 FAR Part 11—Describing Agency Needs
STATEMENT OF WORK (SERVICES)
(SOW)
GENERAL INFORMATION
Title of Project:
Service and maintenance for two laboratory screening instruments
Statement of Need and Purpose:
National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) Therapeutics Development Branch (TDB) requires a one-year service and maintenance agreement for one Functional Drug Screening System (FDSS) 7000 and one FDSS uCell used for live-cell screening and other laboratory studies that support research operations. These instruments are essential for ongoing testing activities, and require a service and maintenance agreement due to a multi-year lapse in coverage. The requirement is for comprehensive manufacturer service coverage that includes replacement of covered parts, repair support, and one scheduled preventive maintenance visit for each system during the coverage period to return them to factory specifications This request is for continued support of existing equipment only and is intended to minimize downtime, protect prior investment, and maintain reliable instrument performance for ongoing research.
Background Information and Objective:
It has been some time since TDB has had these instruments on a service plan and with one of them nearing end-of life (12/2028) we wish to restore them to the original factory calibration specifications. We are having the Original Equipment Manufacturer out to service both of the instruments to verify the systems meet operational and performance standards prior to this service agreement. These instruments are used to run cell-based functional assays in multiwell plates.
They measure rapid biological responses using fluorescence detection in live cells. Specifically, the FDSS 7000 is a large high-throughput kinetic fluorescence screening system that allows us to screen many compounds across plates to monitor fast cellular responses over time in an automated assay workflow. The FDSS uCell is a more compact platform and provides more flexibility in workflows. The objective of this agreement is to provide comprehensive service coverage designed to ensure optimal system performance, maintain reliability, and minimize system downtime.
Period of Performance:
The period of performance should begin upon receipt of award and last one year.
