Technical Background:
Background of why you need it: Procurement of a Hydropac® 4x Master Carton which provides the disposable plastics used by the Hydropac automatic watering machine to provide highly filtered water to the VRC animal colony. The Hydropac operates by automatically filling a plastic pouch, sealing it, cutting it, and then dumping it into a tote. This allows the operator to perform other job functions spending a minimal amount of time swapping out full totes for empty totes. Totes with full pouches are then distributed to the different animal holding rooms for use within the cages. The plastic valves are used each time a new pouch is added to a cage.
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is the nation’s leading medical research agency and the primary Federal agency conducting and supporting medical discoveries that improve people’s health and save lives. The function of the VRC is to provide husbandry, veterinary care, research technical support, assistance in the writing of Animal Study Protocols, and education and assistance regarding interpretations of animal use regulations, and health and safety policies.
