Statement of Work
1.0 INTRODUCTION
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), Core Research Center (CRC) has a requirement for Solid Waste Collection Services to dispose of 200 tons of rock core material. Approximately 20, 10-ton capacity construction debris roll-off dumpsters are needed to accomplish this.
2.0 BACKGROUND
In 1974 the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with the Rocky Mountain Association of geologists, established a permanent free-access core repository in Denver, known as the Core Research Center (CRC). The purpose of the repository is to rescue rock cores threatened with destruction or disposal, process and store them in an efficient manner, and make them available for observation and sampling by all interested parties. The Core Research Center also deaccessions material that is no longer usable by the research community it supports or material that lacks metadata to create storage space for material that is usable and has metadata.
Currently, 150 pallet spaces (200 tons of non-hazardous crushed rock, cardboard boxes, cloth and plastic sample bags, and pallets) in the CRC warehouse are occupied by crushed samples that have been thoroughly tested and reported on by the USGS and Shell Oil Company. The resultant data are available to the public through publications and the CRC, online Well Catalog. The material is no longer needed or re-usable to the geologic community the CRC supports and therefore must be disposed of to free up pallet storage space for material that will be of benefit for all CRC customers and stake holders. The material contains no known hazardous material and is equivalent to construction debris.
3.0 SCOPE
The Contractor shall deliver 20, 10-ton capacity construction debris roll-off dumpsters. The Contractor shall also dispose of the 200 tons of non-hazardous crushed rock, cardboard boxes, cloth and plastic sample bags, and pallets. Empty dumpsters shall be delivered by 9am MST and the full dumpsters shall be hauled away by 3 pm MST daily.
4.0 TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
4.1 The Contractor shall deliver 20, 10-ton capacity construction debris roll-off dumpsters to the north loading dock of Building 810 on the Denver Federal Center. The delivery location is ground level of a paved, flat surface parallel to a raised loading dock. The delivery area is 180’ long x 20’ wide and is bound on the long sides by the loading dock and a road. Two dumpsters, maximum, shall be delivered at once and shall be in place by 9 am. The CRC staff will fill the dumpsters with 10 tons of non-hazardous crushed rock, cardboard boxes, cloth and plastic sample bags, and pallets and contact contractor to pick-up the full dumpsters. Full dumpsters shall be removed by 3 pm the same day. This process will continue for 10 business days (Monday - Friday, no weekends or holidays).
Figure 1 Area where dumpsters will be delivered and picked-up.
4.2 The Contractor shall deliver empty dumpsters before 9 am each morning and pick-up full dumpsters by 3 pm the same day. Empty and full dumpsters cannot be left on site due to the risk of contamination caused by others throwing away materials like refrigerators, oil, liquids and many other items. It is the best and most secure if we swap out dumpsters on daily. CRC staff will contact the dumpster company as soon as the dumpsters are filled to allow adequate time for pick up before the 3 pm deadline each day.
4.3 This disposal project will take 10 consecutive business days (Monday - Friday, no weekends or holidays).
With 2 empty dumpsters being dropped off each morning by 9 am MST and 2 full dumpsters being hauled away the same day before 3 pm MST.
(End of Statement of Work)
