Statement of Need

NOAA Wallops Command & Data Acquisition Station Intermediate Frequency Distribution System (IFDS) Power Supply and Automated Data System (ADS) Modular System

1. Introduction

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Office of Satellite and Product Operations (OSPO) is an organizational component of the National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS). The OSPO has operational responsibility for the Satellite Operations Control Center (SOCC) at Suitland, MD and the Command and Data Acquisition Stations (CDAS) at Wallops, VA and Fairbanks, AK to command and control the satellites, to track the satellites, and to acquire their data. The OSPO also manages and directs the operation of the central ground facilities which ingest, process, and distribute environmental satellite data and derived products, to domestic and foreign users.

The ETL Systems Inc (ETL) IFDS Power Supply and ADS Modular System is an integral part of the GOES antenna downlink system. The ETL IFDS Power Supply and ADS Modular System receives low level incoming satellite signals and conditions the signal to a usable level so the downlink receiving system can manipulate the signal. These devices support the equipment that distributes the received data to product development then to our customers. Wallops Command and Data Acquisition Station (WCDAS) requires that such devices have spares and backups at the ready to keep the antenna in service and avoid interruption in the receipt of the incoming critical data. The ETL IFDS Power Supply and ADS Modular System enable the GOES antenna system to provide continuous uninterruptible data to our global customers.

2. Scope of Work

The purpose of this acquisition is to procure ETL IFDS Power Supply and ADS Modular System for the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES) antenna system. This is a brand name requirement.
