C-1 BACKGROUND

1.1. The U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO) is the Federal Government’s official, digital, secure resource for producing, procuring, cataloging, indexing, authenticating, disseminating, and preserving the official information products of the U.S. Government. Most of this work occurs at the Central Complex, located at 732 North Capitol Street, NW, Washington, DC 20401. As a production facility, GPO generates very small quantities of hazardous and non-hazardous materials (waste), primarily in a liquid form, that require proper disposal.

Section I - Contract Clauses

Option to Extend Services (Nov 1999) MMAR 52.217-8: The Government may require continued performance of any services within the limits and at the rates specified in the contract. These rates may be adjusted only as a result of revisions to prevailing labor rates provided by the Secretary of Labor. The option provision may be exercised more than once, but the total extension of performance hereunder shall not exceed 6 months. The Contracting Officer may exercise the option by written notice to the Contractor within 60 days.

B.6 EVALUATION OF OPTION TO EXTEND SERVICES MMAR 52.217-8 :

For the purposes of the award of this Contract, the Government intends to evaluate the option to extend services, provided under MMAR 52.217-8, as follows:

1. The evaluation will consider the possibility that the option can be exercised at any time during any contract performance period, and can be exercised in increments of one to six months, but for no more than a total of six months during the life of the contract.

2. The evaluation will assume that the prices for any option exercised under MMAR 52.217-8 will be at the same rates as those in effect under the contract when the option is exercised.

3. The evaluation will therefore assume that the addition of the price or prices of any possible extension or extensions under MMAR 52.217-8 to the total price for the basic requirement and the total price for the priced options has the same effect on the total price of all proposals relative to each other, and will not affect the ranking of proposals based on price, unless, after reviewing the proposals, the Government determines that there is a basis for finding otherwise.

4. This evaluation will not obligate the Government to exercise any option under MMAR 52.217-8.
