About this file

This document is a Sole Source Justification for a simplified acquisition under the Simplified Acquisition Threshold (FAR 13) for a federal contract opportunity.

The Department of Agriculture Forest Service is seeking to establish long-term monitoring plots in pine oak habitat to evaluate oak treatments and climate change challenges. The estimated value of the work if done by district staff would be between $XXX and $XXX. A single vendor is being solicited to provide all the necessary equipment, time, and data processing from May 1, 2024 through December 31, 2024 for an estimated $X per plot or $X per acre. This will allow ongoing treatment projects to continue without disruption. Calls were made to other potential contractors and universities, but the selected vendor can provide the services within the required timeframe at a lower cost. The agency plans to incorporate this monitoring into future treatment area requirements to address ongoing needs.
