Sign Shop Window Replacement Project Manual – Standard Material Specifications
This is a comprehensive project manual containing standard material specifications for the Iowa Department of Transportation's Ames Campus Sign Shop Windows renovation project (RFB Number 645-RFB-2149-2026). The specifications document outlines detailed requirements for cold-formed metal framing, rough carpentry, thermal insulation, fiber-cement siding, joint sealants, hollow metal doors and frames, aluminum windows, door hardware, glazing, gypsum board assemblies, and exterior and interior painting. The project scope includes comprehensive renovation work involving removal of existing wall and window materials and replacement with new wall framing, sheathing, siding, and windows. The solicitation period runs from October 1, 2025, to October 29, 2025, with bid opening scheduled for 1:00 PM CDT. The project is scheduled to commence on December 1, 2025, with an expected completion date of June 30, 2026. Site visits are optional and can be arranged by contacting Kyle Williams with 24-hour advance notice. Bidders must provide detailed documentation on fabricated materials, lead times, and project timelines.
The specifications establish minimum material standards and installation procedures across all construction disciplines, with reference to industry standards including AISI, ASTM, AAMA, BHMA, and ICC guidelines. Material requirements include galvanized cold-formed steel studs, Douglas Fir lumber, fiber-cement siding with 50-year limited transferable warranty, thermally insulated hollow metal doors with polyurethane core, aluminum windows with high-performance powder coatings and field testing requirements, and various accessories meeting corrosion resistance standards. The project requires performance and payment bonds for contracts exceeding $25,000, and bidders must be registered with the Iowa Department of Workforce Development. Evaluation criteria include cost, proposed staffing, time schedule, past work performance, and overall work capacity. Deliveries are designated F.O.B. Destination with the agency maintaining tax-exempt status. While no specific budget range was provided in the specifications, the comprehensive scope and detailed technical requirements indicate a significant capital investment.
