Should the need for machine work be discovered as a result of this inspection, the Awardee shall provide the City with a firm price estimate using the rates included on the GETALL pricing pages. This estimate shall detail the methods that will be employed to make the repair and a written quotation, with an estimated time of completion, shall be provided to the City for approval. The quotation shall be provided to the City at no cost, including any preparations for the quotation. No machine work shall be performed without the written approval from the City. The City shall issue a work order including a scope of work which shall act as an “order to proceed” document. A copy of the work order shall be faxed to the Awardee. The Awardee will not be compensated for travel time to the facility or time required for job estimation.
10.2 All items shall be decontaminated, if necessary, prior to the application of any coating. This decontamination process shall consist of placing the item in pressurized steam for a period of at least one hour to purge impurities out of the pores of the metal.
10.3 After decontamination, the components shall be grit blasted to a Steel Structures Painting Council Number Ten (SSPC-10) Near White Blast. Both internal and external surfaces shall be blasted. Each component shall be re-inspected after this blasting for defects and structural integrity.
10.4 All components that require machine work and/or other repairs shall be evaluated for replacement cost versus repair cost. Any repair work that is performed shall result in the item meeting or exceeding the specifications of the original equipment manufacturer.
10.5 After the components have been prepared and inspected, the appropriate coating shall be applied. 10.7 All components that are rotating elements shall be statically and dynamically balanced after the application of the coating. The City shall supply a complete or stub shaft for this purpose when needed. Finished components shall meet or exceed the limits set forth by ANSI Standard S2.19-1975 or ISO 1940/1 G 2.5. The Awardee shall provide the City a report that indicates that the elements have been balanced to these standards.
10.8 The Awardee shall ensure that the application of coatings on equipment components does not interfere with the re-installation of the coated component into the equipment or the operation of the equipment.
