About this file
This is a Request for Information (RFI) issued by the U.S. Mint, a component of the Department of the Treasury, seeking market research on accelerated distribution capabilities for Semiquincentennial commemorative circulating coins in 2026. The RFI is for planning and information-gathering purposes only and does not constitute a formal solicitation or commitment to award a contract. The U.S. Mint is exploring alternative commercial distribution mechanisms to supplement traditional Federal Reserve channels, as reduced coin demand through banking systems has created a need to accelerate circulation velocity and expand geographic availability of the anniversary coins nationwide within the calendar year.
Responses are requested from entities operating high-volume retail networks, national or regional coin handling operations, armored carrier services, coin-operated equipment networks, or cash-intensive industry operations. Respondents must provide corporate information, annual coin processing volumes, geographic coverage, operational infrastructure details including security controls and inventory management systems, proposed distribution methodology, risk mitigation strategies, and data reporting capabilities. Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis through the end of 2026 via email to Devin.Thomas@usmint.treas.gov and Colleen.Grinnell@usmint.treas.gov in PDF format with no page limit. The U.S. Mint reserves the right to use the information received to inform future acquisition planning, conduct follow-up communications, issue a competitive solicitation, or take no further action.
