Federal Judicial Circuits Attachment 4(G) CSO Weapons Requirements
1.0 Weapon Requirements
• While performing on official duty, training, and qualifications, CSOs are authorized to use the below firearms o Glock 17 9mm pistol o Glock 19 9mm pistol
2.0 Holster Requirements
• Holsters may only be carried on duty, in a strong-side hip holster. Holsters must meet the following requirements:
o Provide a covered trigger guard.
o Design specific for the required weapon, or family of weapons, to ensure proper fit.
o Allow for one-handed drawing and re-holstering of the weapon.
o Holsters of lightweight material that collapse upon drawing the weapon are prohibited.
o Prohibit ability for upward pressure on any exposed portion of muzzle which may result in the ejection of the weapon (i.e "belt slide," "yaqui slide," or "skeletonized" holsters are prohibited). If the muzzle extends beyond the bottom of the holster, it must have a thumb-break, strap, or equivalent retention device.
o Provide securing of weapon with at least one retention device in the form of a strap, thumb-break, finger-break, tension screw, or other method which retains the weapon via a physical block or through pressure on the weapon.
The retention device may not require the insertion of a finger into the trigger guard to release the weapon.
3.0 Retention Device Requirements
• The requirement of a retention device prevents the loss of weapon during daily use or strenuous activity. Utilization of holsters employing multiple retention devices is encouraged, but not required.
4.0 Authorized Ammunition
• CSOs are strictly prohibited from using any ammunition not authorized on the USMS
Ammunition Supply Letter.
• The Contractor must purchase and issue ammunition specified in the USMS
Ammunition Supply Letter. No deviation from this ammunition is authorized for use on duty, training, or qualification under the terms of this contract.
• All training ammunition is required to be the same duty ammunition specified in the Ammunition Supply Information and used for duty. Use of reduced hazard or non-toxic ammunition for training and duty is prohibited.
• CSOs are authorized to use ammunition in accordance with the most recent Ammunition Supply Letter (January, 2022):
o Hornady, 135 gr +P Critical Duty (Product Code: 90125) o Vista Outdoor, Speer 147gr G2SR (Product Code: Z9SR147CBP)
