SMALL PURCHASE PROCUREMENT

SCOPE OF WORK & PROJECT REQUIREMENTS

Date: January, 29, 2021 File# 4-21-005

LOCATION: Sanganois SFWA

PROJECT TITLE: Repair Sangamon River Pump and Rehabilitate Dewatering Pump

PROJECT NARRATIVE:

The Sanganois State Fish & Wildlife Area (SFWA) is situated in both Cass and Mason counties, near the confluence of the Sangamon and Illinois rivers, and encompasses over 10,000 acres of Illinois bottomland. The area is one of the largest public waterfowl hunting areas in the State. Since this area is located between two waterways, internal levees have been constructed to reduce the impacts of minor floods, and to provide seasonal habitat within “management units”. In order to provide water for these management units or impoundments, pumps are used to transmit water from the rivers to the impoundments. Pumps are also used to help remove water from the impoundments.

The Sangamon River pump station, located at the western terminus of Wilcox Lake where it meets Coon Slough in Mason County, has undergone years of use and is showing signs of wear. The pump station is comprised of two (2) thirty-inch diameter (30” dia.), twisted belt-driven, impellor pumps. One of the two pumps was rehabilitated in 2019. This effort is seeking Contractors to undertake rehabilitation efforts on the second pump.

The primary dewatering pump, located at the western terminus of the Chain Lake levee where it meets Panther Slough, is has undergone years of use and is showing signs of wear. The pump is a vertical, twisted belt-driven, impellor pump. The overall pump assembly approaches twenty feet in length with the intake bell at the bottom and an impellor sheave drive at the top. A crane shall be needed to lift the pump. This effort is seeking contractors to undertake the rehabilitation effort.
