About this file

This Scope of Work document is issued by Seminole County for two construction projects at county facilities: an animal enclosure at Seminole County Animal Services and a carport awning at the Juvenile Justice Center, both located in Sanford, Florida. The projects involve removing existing structures and installing new aluminum-based structures, including a 21.8' x 25' animal enclosure with a monolithic concrete slab foundation, a walkway canopy approximately 25 feet long and 6 feet wide connecting two buildings, and a 40' wide by 20' deep carport awning with a single-sloped 12' roof pitch.

The solicitation (CC-5637-24/LTT) seeks a qualified General Contractor or Aluminum Extrusion Contractor with an estimated project cost of $180,000. The contractor will be responsible for obtaining engineered design drawings, securing necessary permits, performing utility locates, and providing a two-year warranty on materials and workmanship. The project requires detailed specifications for structural components, including white extruded aluminum frames, galvanized welded wire mesh, kickplates, screen doors, gutters, and downspouts. Contractors must also handle cleanup, debris removal, and replacement of any damaged surfaces during construction.

Scope of Work

Seminole county seeks a qualified General Contractor or Aluminum Extrusion Contractor to provide and install a new animal enclosure on the exterior of the building located at Seminole County Animal Services 232 Eslinger Way, Sanford, FL 32773 and an aluminum carport awning at the Juvenile Justice Center located at 190 Eslinger Way, Sanford, FL 32773.

Aluminum Animal Enclosure The project will consist of removing existing patio stones, a chain link fence gate enclosure system, and corrugated fiberglass roof panels that makeup the existing structure.

A new monolithic slab will be poured in place and used as the foundation for the new structure and an additional 4-foot-wide lead walk from the existing sidewalk which will run the length of the new enclosure and match height of current sidewalk. The overall size of the new concrete slab will be approximately

21.8 25’ x 13' for the enclosure with 4’ of it making up the width of the sidewalk. The height at the attachment will not exceed soffit line to the existing building and slope will match that of the recently installed structure just across from this structure.

The new structure will consist of white extruded aluminum frame with 3 inch non insulated roof panels attached to the building with C-channel or as designed by a licensed Engineer. The structure will have 2-inch by 4-inch square galvanized welded wire mesh mechanically fastened to the outside of all surrounding framing members in place of bug screen. NOTE: A 50-foot-long by 5-foot-high roll of this material can be obtained from Lowes.

The lower section will have a 36-inch-high aluminum kickplate on the exterior, with the welded wire mesh mentioned herein, directly above it and up to the aluminum roof system framing. The enclosure will include one 36" by 80" high aluminum screen door with the same welded wire mesh attached, in lieu of bug screen and a box gutter and down spouts for proper drainage/storm water runoff. Add 18’ underdrain to current gutter away from the structure under the concrete slab and spill out at the opposite end of the area on the same side as the existing HVAC units.

Aluminum Walkway Canopy The canopy will be approximately twenty-five feet long and six feet wide measured from the end of the overhangs. The canopy will be attached to both buildings and serve as a covered walkway between both buildings. The height to the peak of the canopy will be +/- eight feet five inches tall and only have one center structural support post on each side of the walkway. A gutter and down spout will be installed on each side of the canopy.

Juvenile Justice Center Carport Awning The structure will be approximately 40' wide and 20' deep with a single sloped 12’ roof pitch to the rear and a box gutter and down spouts. Contractors will be responsible for calculating all square footages of concrete to be installed and or replaced, as well as all material quantities, sizes, thicknesses, etc. to meet specifications as mentioned herein and for permit and design criteria as required.

Contractor shall obtain the appropriate engineered design drawings to satisfy Building Division, Fire Marshal, Zoning, and any other authority having jurisdiction for permit applications and installation approvals.

Contractor shall be responsible for all cleanup, debris removal, and replacement of any existing surfaces damaged on the property during construction work, to include any asphalt, sod, irrigation, HVAC, and underground piping, etc. at both locations.

Contractors shall confirm any setback requirements imposed by the building and zoning department for said structures. Contractors will be required to call for utility locates prior to work commencement and ensure no utilities are affected or disturbed during construction.

Contractor shall provide and maintain a two-year warranty on all work for both material and installation/workmanship of the structures.
