PROJECT TITLE: Post-Frame Building Metal Roof Restoration
PROJECT NARRATIVE:
The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has a maintenance and storage site located near Monticello, Illinois that utilized by its Heritage staff in maintaining the habitats of the surrounding DNR properties. Located onsite is a post frame building used for storage, measuring approximately 60’x144’, which is in need of roofing repairs to eliminate water infiltration due to the age and deterioration of the metal roof. A project was completed approximately three years ago to replace rotted trusses and purlins, and to seal the metal roof at points found to be leaking, however water is still infiltrating into the pole barn, and the roof panels are beginning to rust.
A comprehensive sealing and coating of the entire metal roof is needed to extend its life and weathertightness for the foreseeable future. The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is requesting bids from contractors to apply an acrylic roof coating system to the building roof as detailed below.
SCOPE OF WORK:
This project consists of providing all labor, equipment, and materials to apply an acrylic roof coating system to an exposed fastener metal roof. A summary of the proposed primary work includes but is not limited to:
· Surface preparation consisting of acid etching and cleaning of entire roof surface with a pressure washer.
· Application of a rust inhibiting primer over the entire roof surface.
· Sealing of all exposed roof fasteners with an acrylic sealant.
· Sealing of all side and end lap seams with embedded fabric or butyl tape.
· Coating entire roof area with a white acrylic topcoat.
· Site cleanup and restoration.
