About this file

This Scope of Work details the requirements for a bottomless, arched aluminum culvert needed for a habitat restoration project in Stewart Branch, Pulaski County, Kentucky. The culvert will replace an aging, undersized crossing that risks failing and threatening the Buck Darter (Etheostoma nebra), a priority at-risk species monitored by the Service's Kentucky ES Field Office.

The technical specifications call for an 18ft span x 5'9" rise culvert constructed of aluminum structural plate with a single radius arch and steel foundation system. Freight to the job site must be included in the scope, though unloading will be handled by a separate contractor. The scope was prepared by Virgil Lee Andrews, Jr., Field Supervisor of the Kentucky Field Office, on December 1, 2024, for the Department of Interior Fish and Wildlife Service under solicitation number 140FS325Q0022.

Scope of Work

A bottomless, arched aluminum culvert is needed for a habitat restoration and enhancement project in

Stewart Branch, Pulaski County, Kentucky. The culvert will replace an aging, undersized crossing of

Stewart Branch that is at-risk of failure. Stewart Branch contains one of the best remaining populations of the Buck Darter (Etheostoma nebra), a priority at-risk species for the Service’s Kentucky ES Field

Office. Replacement of the existing crossing with a new culvert will prevent future impacts to Buck

Darters and Buck Darter habitat and improve stream flow conditions in Stewart Branch by eliminating a floodplain restriction caused by the existing crossing.

Suggested dimensions for the culvert are an 18ft span x 5’9” rise. The culvert should be constructed of aluminum structural plate with a single radius arch and a steel foundation system. Freight to the job site should be included and unloading will be done by a separate contractor.
