TECHNICAL ORDERING SPECIFICATIONS FOR WALLACE AND COAST PIPE BENDER TOOLING

1. SCOPE OF WORK:

0. This scope covers the requirements for ordering pipe bending tool sets for the Wallace and Coast CNC Pipe bender.

0. Delivery to Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Portsmouth, VA.

0. Contractor shall contact: Cezar Jackson at 757-284-6506 before delivering equipment for scheduling purposes.

0. Second Point of Contact for Norfolk Naval Shipyard: Russell Harris 757-636-4908.

1. EQUIPMENT DESCRIPTION: The equipment shall consist of tooling for a Wallace and Coast CNC pipebender, 4" - 6" MPS - Type 2, DPAS 4215801325, Manufacturer Model Number 1006A-PC, Serial Number 1006-PC-97-545, as described below:

1. COMPONENTS: Tooling sets shall consist of the following components (in CCW configuration) for various specified sizes:

0. Bend die

0. Clamp die

0. Pressure die – mild steel

0. Mandrel

1. MATERIAL: Unless otherwise noted, all tooling components shall be manufactured from heat treated tool steel.

1. GRIP AREA: All clamping dies shall be smooth, and be of sufficient length to prevent slippage of listed pipe/tube sizes and materials.

1. MANDREL: The mandrel shall fit the mandrel rods of the 1006 bender owned by C960 in Bldg.202.

1. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS: The pipe bending toolsets will have the following salient characteristics:

1. LIFTING /HANDLING

3. Tooling weighing more than 50 lbs. shall come equipped with all necessary lifting and handling attachments per CFR 1910.217(d)(8).

3. Weight reducing features such as section holes may be incorporated into the bending dies.

3. Contractor shall provide a 5/8-11 UNC-2B RH tapped hole(s), 1-118 inch deep, on all dies over forty-five pounds and a 3/4-10 UNC-2B RH tapped hole 1-1/8 inch deep, for all dies over 4000 lbs. as a means for safely lifting, using customer supplied swivel hoist ring(s).

3. The tapped holes shall be vertical, and arranged about the center of gravity in non-contact surfaces for balanced lifting in the working position of the die.
