About this file

This addendum, issued by the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) on May 15, 2026, provides clarifications and revisions for the Gaston County Equipment Sub-Shop construction project (SCO ID# 25-29127-01A). The addendum addresses twelve clarification requests from bidders regarding responsibility allocation for equipment and materials, including specifications for the air compressor and dryer (to be provided by the Owner and installed by the General Contractor), wash bay pit depth specifications (2'-8" per structural drawing S101), fluid drums and piping (Owner-provided), roof panel gauge (22 gauge as specified), wall panel specifications (24 gauge with concealed fasteners required), and temporary power and water provisions (General Contractor responsible). Additionally, the addendum clarifies that the General Contractor shall provide stone base preparation for heavy-duty asphalt paving, confirms insulation requirements for eight overhead doors, and approves Alliance Steel Building Systems and Kirby Building Systems as acceptable manufacturers for metal building systems while rejecting GMB Steel / Elite Structures based on insufficient documentation of compliance with specification requirements.

The addendum includes a complete revised specification for Section 083323 - Overhead Coiling Doors, detailing requirements for insulated service doors with 22-gauge galvanized steel construction, 3-inch center-to-center flat profile slats, vision windows between 6 and 8 feet above finished floor, and an R-value of 4.5. The overhead doors must be equipped with electric operators (1 hp, 208V ac, three-phase, 60 Hz) rated for medium duty up to 12 cycles per hour, photoelectric sensors with self-monitoring capability, electric sensor edges on bottom bars, and three-button interior control stations. Acceptable manufacturers include Cookson, Cornell, McKeon Door Company, Overhead Door Corporation, and Raynor Garage Doors. All overhead coiling doors require a five-year warranty from the date of Final Inspection, with initial maintenance service including twelve months of full maintenance by the installer, including quarterly preventive maintenance and 24-hour emergency callback service.

NCDOT – Gaston County Equipment Sub-Shop

The following Addendum clarifies, revises, and takes precedence over information previously published.

CLARIFICATIONS:

1. The Equipment Schedule on sheet P002 indicates the air compressor is furnished by the owner but Detail 1 on sheet P502 indicates the air compressor and dryer are furnished by the plumbing contractor. If we are responsible for these items, please provide the required specifications.

RESPONSE: The Owner is to provide the air compressor and dryer to be installed by General Contractor. Installed CA piping as indicated on Contract

Documents.

2. The plumbing sheets offer no information on the wash bay pit. I went to the architectural sheets looking for the depth so I could determine how deep the oil interceptor will be.

RESPONSE: Refer to structural drawings for cast in place concrete pit information. Depth of pit to be -2’-8” – refer to S101.

3. If we are to furnish the wash bay pit, we need a specification. We also need the depth on the pit to determine the burial depth/costs for the oil interceptor.

RESPONSE: Refer to structural drawings for cast in place concrete pit information. Depth of pit to be -2’-8” – refer to S101.

4. Who is responsible for installing the fluid drums and the piping between the air reels and fluid drum operators?

RESPONSE: The Owner is to provide the fluid drums and piping between the air reels and fluid drum operators.

5. Page L-100 has note “See sheet C-001 for planting plan notes”, but no notes exist.

RESPONSE: Note indicating “See sheet C-001 for planting plan notes” on L-100 to be removed. Excluding seeding as indicated on L-100, no planting is required on the project.

RESPONSE: Roof panels are to be 22 gauge as indicated on the Contract

Documents.

7. We want to confirm that 24 gauge wall panels with concealed fasters is necessary.

They add a considerable cost.

RESPONSE: Provide 24 gauge wall panels with concealed fasteners are indicated on the Contract Documents.

8. Will there be water and electricity available, or do we need to make our own accommodations?

RESPONSE: Temporary power and water to be provided by General Contractor.

9. In the areas of heavy duty asphalt by owner, do we need to install and set up the stone under it, or is that also by owner?

RESPONSE: The General Contractor shall provide and prepare the required stone base/subgrade. Heavy-duty asphalt paving shall be provided by the

Owner.

10. Is there a spec available for RCB-2 called out on page A1400?

RESPONSE: No base in required in the Wash Bay alternate. Remove designation of RCB-2 in 112 Wash Bay as indicated on the Contract Documents in the Finish Schedule on sheet A1400 Finish Plans.

11. Looking for clarification on air compressor and related air reels and equipment.

The plumbing specs say the owner furnishes the air compressor, the plumbing drawing P-502 says air compressor and dryer are by PC. There are no specs on any air equipment in our data.

RESPONSE: Owner to provide compressor and dryer. GC to provide CA piping as indicated on the bid drawings.
