The document is Schedule C - Openings Maps, which provides information on the Opening Maintenance contract opportunity for Marquette County, Michigan. The contract involves the cultivation and maintenance of openings and hunter walking trails in two specific areas - the Bill Rollo Memorial GEMS and the KC Cutacross Block. The Bill Rollo Memorial GEMS area is intensively managed for the benefit of ruffed grouse, with defined openings and cultivated hunter walking trails. The contract opportunity involves Delta County and Menominee City, Michigan as the jurisdictions.

Department of Natural Resources Openings Maintenance Marquette County Request for Proposal No. 2200000002403
SCHEDULE C – Marquette County - Opening Location Maps
Figure 1: Contract 2022 Cultivation Blocks The Bill Rollo Memorial GEMS and KC Cutacross Blocks are approximately 6 linear miles apart from one another. However, driving between these three areas requires substantial time. Road quality is variable between all of the Blocks (e.g. improved gravel county roads, poor dirt roads).
Figure 2: Bill Rollo Memorial GEMS Block The Bill Rollo Memorial GEMS is an intensively managed area for the specific benefit of ruffed grouse. In this way, openings and trails (known as hunter walking trails) are cultivated and planted with beneficial forbes. Map Labels: GT1, GT2, GT4, GT5, GT6, GT7, GT9, GT10, GT11, GT13, and GT14 denote hunter walking trails among the matrix of openings (Map Labels: G1, G1, G3, G4, G9, G10, G12, G13, G14, and G16). The openings have a naturally defined perimeter according to the surrounding wood line, while the hunter walking trails may be cultivated no more than 12ft.
Figure 3: KC Cutacross Block The KC Cutacross area is the longest running area of cultivation in Marquette County on state-managed public lands since 2014. The openings are all accessible by road and/or woods trail and have naturally defined perimeters according to the surrounding wood line.
