About this file

This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for the procurement of a TA Instruments DMA 850 dynamic mechanical analyzer for NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. Code 526 at the facility requires enhanced testing capabilities to support flight and research projects, as current laboratory systems lack sufficient resolution for dynamic mechanical analysis, creep testing, and fatigue testing of coupons.

The specified equipment shall feature dynamic and creep testing capability with a dynamic frequency range of 0.001 to 200 Hz, load capacity up to 18 Newtons with load resolution no greater than 0.001 Newton, displacement capability up to 25 mm with displacement resolution no greater than 0.1 nm, and environmental temperature control. Beyond equipment procurement, TA Instruments is required to provide installation and operator training services. The place of performance is NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, with a delivery lead time not to exceed 60 days from purchase.

STATEMENT OF WORK

Procurement of TA Instruments DMA 850

1. Objective/Requirements

Code 526 routinely performs dynamic mechanical analysis, creep testing, and fatigue testing of coupons in support of flight and research projects. However, testing capabilities are limited by the relatively low resolution of systems currently available in Branch laboratories. This statement of work covers procurement of a TA

Instruments DMA 850 dynamic mechanical analyzer, associated equipment, installation, and operator training.

2. Characteristics, Scope, and Specs

The dynamic mechanical analyzer shall meet the following requirements:

• Dynamic and creep testing capability

• Dynamic frequency range spanning 0.001 to 200 Hz

• Load up to 18 Newtons, with load resolution no greater than 0.001 Newton

• Displacement up to 25 mm, with displacement resolution no greater than 0.1 nm

• Environmental temperature control

In addition, TA Instruments shall install and provide operator training for the dynamic mechanical analyzer.

3. Place of Performance

NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, MD 20771

4. Period of Performance

Lead time for delivery from purchase is not to exceed 60 days
