About this file

This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for ground tail Electric Ducted Fans (EDFs) and Electronic Speed Controllers (ESCs) for NASA Glenn Research Center's distributed electric propulsion system development and ground testing program.

The contractor must provide two Electric Ducted Fans with the following specifications: internal cylinder diameter of 570 mm, maximum thrust of 1700 N or higher, maximum rotational speed of 6000 RPM or higher, maximum input power of 100 kW, and total engine weight of 31 kg or less. Additionally, the contractor must supply two air-cooled ESCs and two liquid-cooled ESCs, each meeting minimum specifications of 100 kW continuous power rating (nominal), 450 VDC maximum voltage, and 520 A maximum current. All ESCs must be approved by the EDF manufacturer for compatibility. NASA's market research identified that only VasyFan SRL's EDF and ESC combinations meet the performance requirements: the VF-570 mm Nacelle + 80–100 kW engine model (Motor JLM-80-T400) paired with either the JLM-430V-400A AC air-cooled or JLM-430V-400A LC liquid-cooled ESCs. VasyFan SRL authorizes third-party resellers registered in SAM.gov to supply these components. The contractor must propose a delivery schedule ensuring all items are available within 15 weeks after contract award to support NASA's ground test program milestones. Delivery shall be to NASA Glenn Research Center, 21000 Brookpark Rd., Cleveland, OH 44135, Building 5, Room CW18.
