About this file

This document is a technical specifications sheet for a high vacuum gantry system intended for use in a VOiD (Vacuum of Interest Device) chamber. The system must be designed for continuous operation in high vacuum conditions of less than 10E-7 Torr, utilizing low outgassing materials exclusively, bearings cleaned and re-greased with Braycote 601EF grease or equivalent HV/UHV lubricant, integrated thermal provisions in motor design, and vacuum-compatible wire insulation such as PTFE or Kapton.

The gantry system consists of three linear stages—X, Y, and Z axes—each driven by vacuum-compatible stepper motors and lead screws with position feedback via motor encoders. The X and Y stages must provide at least 24 inches of travel in an assembled length not exceeding 32 inches, with positioning resolution of at least 6E-4 inches, individual weights not exceeding 15 pounds, and a load rating of at least 50 pounds. The Z stage must provide at least 12 inches of travel in an assembled length not exceeding 20 inches, with positioning resolution of at least 4E-6 inches, weight not exceeding 7 pounds, and a load rating of at least 50 pounds. All stages must demonstrate compatibility with high vacuum operating conditions and maintain structural integrity under specified load conditions.
