About this file
This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for the STRIVE Main Electronics Box (MEB) Investigation, effective May 4, 2026, issued by NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center for the Stratosphere Troposphere Response using Infrared Vertically-resolved Light Explorer mission. The contractor must conduct an 8-month investigation to develop the MEB concept and define electrical, thermal, mechanical, and flight software interfaces for the STRIVE mission payload. The MEB must utilize the Sensors Unlimited 1280JSX Enclosed Camera form factor or equivalent, operate within -10°C to +50°C, accept +28 VDC to +34 VDC input, and support multiple complex interfaces including RS-422 communications, LVDS SpaceWire for science data transmission at 66.9 Mbps peak rate, power distribution to subsystems, 10 heater service outputs, 35 temperature sensor inputs, and 4 pulse commands for actuators. Three items remain to be determined: maximum and average power requirements (TBD-1), heater service output specifications (TBD-2), and temperature sensor specifications (TBD-3).
The contractor must deliver an MEB development schedule with Integration and Test approach and early Engineering Model delivery possibilities; MEB qualification testing plan; Electrical Ground Support Equipment list; comprehensive MEB specifications covering general information, electrical interfaces, mechanical envelope, thermal characteristics, and environmental limits; and an MEB Users Guide addressing flight software interfaces, system initialization, watchdog servicing, and memory scrubbing. Deliverables are due in initial draft form at month two, interim draft at month four, and final draft at month seven. Post-completion engineering support of 4 hours per week is required. The contractor must support weekly video meetings, monthly status reports, a kickoff technical interchange meeting at the contractor's facility, two technical interchange meetings at Goddard, and a specification review meeting, along with discussion of alternative parts for radiation mitigation.
