About this file
This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for the development of laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF) processes for oxide dispersion strengthened (ODS) and burn-resistant nickel-based alloys at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) through Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC).
The contract spans nine months from authority to proceed and requires the vendor to provide access to a fully dedicated EOS M280 laser powder bed fusion system with a minimum operational window of 432 hours per month and 60% minimum print utilization rate. The vendor must develop and optimize proprietary parameter sets for target alloys including ORCAlloy-14, ORCAlloy-21, Alloy 754-ODS, GRX-810, OR-F1, and additional ODS-based experimental alloys, achieving ≥99.9% relative density validated through microstructural analysis and mechanical testing. Task 1 encompasses parameter development and builds for burn-resistant alloys in partnership with NASA Glenn Research Center (GRC) and MSFC, with the vendor responsible for powder removal, build plate cleaning, build log tracking, and archiving complete build records. Task 2 requires performance of a minimum of 100 mechanical tests on fabricated specimens, including tensile testing at room and elevated temperatures and low/high-cycle fatigue testing per NASA specifications, with test methodologies coordinated with the NASA technical point of contact. Task 3 mandates supply of a minimum of 200 pounds of powder for each developmental alloy, conforming to NASA-provided compositions and particle size distributions with full traceability certifications including chemical composition, particle morphology, and batch tracking. All components, development samples, test reports, and powder certifications must ship to Central Receiving at Marshall Space Flight Center, Huntsville, AL 35812.
