About this file

This Statement of Work (SOW) details NASA Glenn Research Center's requirement for a secondary furnace hot zone and replacement cold rods for high temperature mechanical testing equipment. The specifications include a Tungsten Mesh Heating Element (3.5" I.D. x 8.0" Tall), a six-layer heat shield system (two Tungsten, four Molybdenum layers), a water-cooled copper heater shell with mounting bracket, and water-cooled power feedthroughs. The cold rods require shorter top and bottom configurations with thread sizes to be finalized after purchase order (APO). The entire kit is designed to modify the Oxy-Gon Camber F00201 physical test furnace, capable of operating up to 2000°C with the existing power supply, and must be delivered within 10-12 weeks from the APO date.

STATEMENT OF WORK

Furnace Hot Zone and Cold Rods Specifications and Requirements

NASA Glenn Research Center (GRC) is interested in an secondary furnace hot zone and replacement cold rods for existing high temperature mechanical testing equipment.

Specifically, the Hot Zone and Cold Rods must meet the requirements:

1. Hot Zone:

a) Tungsten Mesh Heating Element, 3.5" I.D. x 8.0" Tall

b) Set of Heat Shields, sides, tops, and bottoms. Six (6) layers, two (2) Tungsten, four (4)

Molybdenum

c) Water Cooled Copper Heater Shell, with mounting bracket

d) Water Cooled Power Feedthroughs, 90° to reach new element. Will use present seal flanges and terminal blocks

e) Must fit Oxy-Gon Camber F00201

2. Cold Rods:

f) Shorter Top Cold Rod (Thread size and overall length to be finalized APO)

g) Shorter Bottom Cold Rod (Thread size and overall length to be finalized APO)

h) O-Rings needed to install new heat zone and cold rods

i) Must fit Oxy-Gon Camber F00201

3. Delivery: 10-12 Weeks from APO

This will be a complete kit to modify Oxy-Gon F00201 physical test furnace heat zone. This heat power feedthroughs, and shorter cold rods. The necessary O-rings to install the new heat zone are included. This heat zone will operate up to 2000°C with present power supply.
