About this file

This document is a Specifications/Statement of Work for NASA Glenn Research Center's Polymer Aerogel Laboratory, detailing the procurement of a VGO200 Portable Laser Vibrometer. The acquisition is part of the FY25-Center Innovation Fund Project "Digitally-Engineered Impact Resistant Aerogel Composites for MMOD Protection" and aims to enhance noncontact vibration analysis capabilities for aerogels under different mechanical loading conditions.

The VGO200 Portable Laser Vibrometer will provide advanced non-contact vibration measurement capabilities for displaying, recording, and evaluating vibration data, which are not currently available with existing laboratory equipment. The device will be a handheld model housed in the Aerogel labs in building 49, room 245 at NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio. The work will be performed by the Polymer Aerogel Group, including researchers S Malakooti, S Vivod, and M Chauby, with no additional electrical upgrades required for system implementation.

SPECIFICATIONS/STATEMENT OF WORK

1. Objective/Requirements Under the FY25-Center Innovation Fund Project “Digitally-Engineered Impact Resistant Aerogel Composites for MMOD Protection”, GRC’s Polymer Aerogel Laboratory will purchase a VGO200 Portable Laser Vibrometer for noncontact vibration analysis of aerogels under different mechanical loading conditions. The VGO200 Portable Vibrometer provides capabilities not currently available with current laboratory equipment, which will assist in meeting CIF milestones and rapid material development.

2. Characteristics, Scope, and Specs

The specs of the VGO200 Portable Laser Vibrometer include capabilities for advanced non-contact vibration measurements for displaying, recording, and evaluating vibration data allowing operators to quickly interpret and understand critical information. There is no upgraded electrical work necessary to accommodate the new system.

3. Place of Performance Work will be performed by the Polymer Aerogel Group (S Malakooti, S Vivod, M Chauby) at NASA Glenn Research Center, Cleveland Ohio. The vibrometer is a handheld model that will be housed in the Aerogel labs in building 49, room 245.
