About this file
This Statement of Work (SOW) details a NASA requirement for 55 EnSci Electrochemical Concentration Cell (ECC) ozonesondes and 55 balloon reels for the SHADOZ long-term ozonesonde measurement station on Ascension Island. The order is for a one-year supply from September 2025 to August 2026, with instruments to be shipped to US Space Force personnel in Melbourne, Florida, and subsequently used at the Ascension Island SHADOZ station. The specific purpose is to continue multi-decadal balloon-borne ozone profile records for satellite validation, ozone and pollution trends, and climate studies, with the EnSci ozonesondes chosen to ensure consistency with existing records and compatibility with current ground data collection systems.
The SOW specifies that station operators will prepare, launch, and collect data from the ozonesondes, then send the data to NASA/GSFC in Greenbelt, Maryland. The procurement is structured as a sole source contract with JH Acquisition, LLC, under FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i), with NASA/NSSC serving as the procuring center and performance located at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. The opportunity is classified under NAICS Code 334516, with interested organizations able to submit capabilities and qualifications by 12:30 p.m. Central Standard Time on 7/7/2025.

STATEMENT OF WORK
2025 Ascension Island SHADOZ Station EnSci Ozonesonde Order
Background
• The SHADOZ long-term ozonesonde measurement station on Ascension Island needs to continue their multi-decadal balloon borne ozone profile records for satellite validation, ozone and pollution trends, and climate studies. This requirement is for 55 EnSci (JH Acquisition, LLC) Electrochemical
Concentration Cell (ECC) ozonesondes and 55 balloon reels. The EnSci ozonesonde is required to ensure consistency with the existing Ascension Island
SHADOZ records, and compatibility with the ground data collection systems currently in place at the Ascension Island SHADOZ station.
Scope
• The operators at the Ascension Island SHADOZ stations shall prepare, launch, and collect the data from the EnSci ozonesondes, and send the data to
NASA/GSFC in Greenbelt, MD.
• These instruments will be shipped to US Space Force personnel in Melbourne, Florida, who assist with the logistics and shipping for the Ascension Island
SHADOZ station.
Place of Performance
• This work (launching these instruments on free-flying weather balloons) will be performed at the Ascension Island SHADOZ station.
Period of Performance
• This order represents an approximately one-year supply of EnSci ozonesondes to be launched from ~September 2025 to August 2026.
