About this file
This Statement of Work (SOW) details NASA Marshall Space Flight Center's acquisition of a TA Instruments Discovery SDT650 thermal analysis system. The procurement includes one SDT650 module featuring simultaneous differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) capabilities, capable of measuring heat flow and mass loss from ambient to 1500°C. The system includes an innovative "app-style" touch screen, automated furnace movement, a horizontal purge gas system, TRIOS software, and a five-year furnace warranty.
The contract also encompasses a thermal installation and training fee, with installation performed by a service engineer following ISO 9000 procedures, and a Loyalty Support Plan (LSP) that provides annual performance maintenance, priority support, complete repair coverage, accessory coverage, and a 10% discount on consumables. The period of performance is 30 days after receipt of order (ARO), and the procurement is identified as a sole source requirement specifically for TA Instruments equipment. The system will be installed at Building 4602, room 1185, with operational training provided post-installation.

STATEMENT OF WORK
1. Objective/Requirements
This requirement is for the acquisition of a TA Instruments – Waters L.L.C. Discovery SDT650 for NASA Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) for research and development work at the center. Personnel from TA Instruments – Waters L.L.C. will perform installation and training on the SDT650 system on-site at Building 4602, room 1185. The new instrument will enable heat flow and mass loss data from ambient to 1500°C.
Operational training will be provided after installation. A comprehensive support plan is included in this purchase.
2. Characteristics, Scope, and Specs
QTY PART # DESCRIPTION
1 963000.901 MODULE SDT 650:
Discovery SDT 650 - Simultaneous DSC- TGA: From the world’s leader in Thermal Analysis, the new Discovery SDT 650 provides a true simultaneous measurement of heat flow (DSC) and weight change (TGA) on the same sample from ambient to 1500°C. A heat flux DSC design with separate sample and reference pans is used and is calibrated for heat flow measurements using sapphire.
The sample and reference beams can be easily changed in a couple of minutes with the included tool. Included standard are the new innovative “app-style” touch screen with One-Touch-Away functionality, and features automated furnace movement and a horizontal purge gas system with Gas Delivery Manifold (GDM), utilizing separate balance and sample gas flows. The GDM is programmable and allows switching between two gases. A separate Inconel tube permits introduction of reactive gases into the sample chamber. The Discovery SDT is field upgradeable to a 30 position autosampler. Other features include Hi-Res™ TGA, Modulated TGA™ & Modulated DSC®. The system includes TRIOS software, the most versatile control and analysis software package available.
TRIOS features a unique interface for programming experiments, managing and analyzing data files, intuitive spreadsheet views for autosampler control and sequencing, and automated calibration and verification programming. The Discovery SDT’s are the only DSC-TGA’s in the industry to include a five year warranty on furnaces. Note: TRIOS is compatible with Windows 7 and greater operating systems. Instrument requires DSL Router with four port switch (P/N: 251471.002)
1 999800.528 THERMAL INSTALL & TRAINING FEE:
Thermal and Rubotherm Installation & Training: Installation will be provided according to ISO 9000 procedure by one of our highly trained Service Engineers (average experience level of our field Service Engineers is over 15 years). The ISO 9000 procedure insures consistency and high quality throughout the installation process.
IQ/OQ procedures are available for an additional fee. The installation (except DMA) will include calibration with a traceable standard and a certificate of calibration. Basic Operational Training is also provided on the equipment after it is installed in your laboratory.
Note: Advanced Applications training/consulting is available for additional fee
1 999800.781 LSP PLAN TMA450 TGA550 SDT650
DMA850:
Loyalty Support Plan (LSP) for TGA550, DMA850, TMA450, TMA 450 RH, or SDT650 systems: The LSP is a comprehensive support plan, designed to provide improved instrument performance, increased uptime, and reduced cost of ownership. For the modest annual subscription fee, LSP subscribers receive an annual Performance Maintenance Visit (PMV), priority phone & email support, complete repair coverage (including service parts, labor, & travel), accessory coverage, a 10% discount on consumable purchases, and exclusive access to TA Instruments virtual Theory and Applications courses.
This comprehensive support plan is available only for new instruments at the time of purchase, or prior to the end of the warranty period. LSP coverage is initiated at the end of the warranty period, and with annual renewal of the subscription, continues for the life of the instrument.
Note: When sold to TA Instruments’ distributors, this Support Plan covers parts and shipment only.
3. Period of Performance
