About this file

This Statement of Work (SOW) details NASA Glenn Research Center's requirement for a Wabash G30H-15-CX Genesis Series Compression Press for the composites processing lab. The procurement is intended to replicate existing press capabilities, supporting multiple programs within STMD and ARMD, with the goal of increasing manufacturing efficiency. The press must meet specific technical specifications including a maximum operating temperature of 800°F, 5-30 ton adjustable compression force, 15" heated/cooled platens, and a self-contained hydraulic system with dual gear pumps and water-cooled heat exchanger.

The control system requires a NEMA-rated electrical enclosure with an Allen Bradley MicroLogix 1400 programmable controller, 4" PanelView 800 color touch screen, two-hand "anti-tie-down" cycle initiation circuit, proximity switches, and 460/3/60 supply voltage. The solicitation is set aside for small businesses, with the procurement specifically seeking a brand-name Wabash G30H-15-CX Genesis Series Hydraulic Compression Press. Press delivery will be coordinated with the designated point of contact to allow time for the current press to be removed.

Statement of Work- Hydraulic Press

The composites processing lab at NASA Glenn Research Center uses hydraulic presses to fabricate composite parts in support of mulple programs within STMD and ARMD. An addional hydraulic press is required to meet the schedule and milestones of the project that are supported. This procurement is intended to replicate the current capabilies in the lab to enable operaon of both presses and increase manufacturing efficiency.

The below specificaons shall be met to replicate the current press performance.

Press: Wabash G30H-15-CX, Genesis Series Compression Press.

Temperature:

• Maximum operang temperature of at least 800oF

Clamp:

• 5 - 30 ton compression force (adjustable)

• 15" L-R x 15" F-B fully guided heated/cooled platens

• Solid state relays including over temperature protecon

• Insulaon between platen and bolster

• Perimeter insulaon

• 1/16 DIN digital temperature controllers

• One zone of temperature control per platen

• Single opening with:

• 6" – 12" open daylight (adjustable)

• 0" – 6" closed daylight (shut height)

• Factory set daylight @ 6"

• 5" bore JIC style clamp cylinder (develops maximum clamping force at 3,055 psi)

• 6" stroke

• 42" lower platen operang height (approximate)

• Built-in li truck tubes

Add opon for pressing speed control

Hydraulic System

• Self-contained hydraulic system, including:

• Reservoir with gauge for oil level and temperature indicaon

• Dual gear pump system with energy-efficient TEFC motor

• Water-cooled heat exchanger

• 70 IPM closing speed

• 5 IPM pressing speed

• 75 IPM opening speed

Control System

• NEMA-rated electrical control enclosure, including:

• Allen Bradley MicroLogix 1400 programmable controller with 4" PanelView 800 color touch screen operator interface

• Cycle counter through PLC

• Operang butons, including two-hand "an-e-down" circuit for cycle iniaon

• Indicang lights

• Proximity switches to control "slow close" posion and "cycle reset"

• Clamp pressure relief valve and gauge

• 460/3/60 supply voltage

• Non-fused disconnect

Press delivery shall be coordinated with POC idenfied below to allow me for current press to be removed.
