About this file
This document is a Statement of Work (SOW) for engineering support services to be provided to NASA for the development of novel detector technologies in support of two NASA grants. The contractor will be responsible for designing and implementing custom laboratory instrumentation, providing real-time analysis and data reduction solutions, integrating ancillary equipment, and supporting field deployment and operational activities. The required skills include expertise in readout and control of Transition Edge Sensor (TES) detectors, HgCdTe detectors, and SQUID amplifier systems, as well as experience with cryogenic subsystems and suborbital platform instrumentation. The period of performance is from 10/01/2024 to 12/31/2025. The SOW is related to a sole-source federal contract opportunity with NASA's Shared Services Center for FY Year 1 Labor (Oct 24- Sept 25).

Statement of Work Support for NASA awards to develop Longitudinal Proximity Effect (LoPE) superconducting sensors and the EXoplanet Climate Infrared TElescope 11 July 2024
Summary:
The contractor shall provide engineering support for novel detector characterization in support of competitively awarded NASA grant 20-APRA20-0103, entitled "Ultra-sensitive longitudinal proximity effect (LoPE) transition-edge sensors detectors for the Origins Space Telescope" and for NASA award 18-APRA18-0075, entitled "Probing Exoplanet Atmospheric Physics Using The EXoplanet Climate Infrared TElescope (EXCITE)." The work will center on laboratory instrumentation, hardware integration, and operational support, including some or all of the following:
1. Design and implement custom laboratory instrumentation for testing and analyzing Superconducting QUantum Interference Device (SQUID) and mercury cadmium telluride (HgCdTe) detector systems.
2. Provide high throughput, real-time analysis solutions and off-line data reduction procedures.
3. Integrate ancillary data sources and equipment and provide appropriate equipment synchronization solutions.
4. Provide testing, training and laboratory operational support.
5. Support an instrument deployment field campaign.
6. Document system design and maintain version control.
Required skills/knowledge; additional technical requirements
• Expert in readout and control of devices such as Transition Edge Sensor (TES) detectors, HgCdTe detectors, ACADIA controllers, MACIE detector electronics, and SQUID amplifier systems.
• Expert in controlling Dilution Refrigerator (DR) and Adiabatic Demagnetization Refrigerator (ADR) cryogenic subsystems, as well as associated instrumentation that controls these systems, including superconducting magnet power supplies, thermometry systems, and associated components.
• Expert in developing systems for control of detector systems and cryogenic systems that operate from suborbital platforms, including stratospheric balloons and aircraft.
• Expert in reading out visible light camera systems that are used for pointing feedback for high stability infrared pointing platforms.
• Expert in deploying suborbital instrumentation from field settings, including NASA's Columbia Scientific Balloon Facility (NASA/CSBF) in Palestine, TX and Ft. Sumner, NM.
Period of Performance:
