Performance Bond Summary
This is a Performance Bond template document applicable to the City of Meriden's Edison Middle School Roof Replacement project. The bond serves as a financial guarantee that the selected contractor will promptly and faithfully perform all obligations under the roofing contract. The bond is required in an amount equal to one hundred percent of the contract price, estimated at approximately $5,946,600 based on architectural cost estimates. The contractor must submit the performance bond concurrent with execution of the contract, with the bond remaining in effect throughout the project duration until final completion and payment. The bond includes a two-year statute of limitations for claims from the final payment date, and the surety waives notice of any contract alterations, defaults, or extensions of time made by the Owner. The bonding company agrees to either remedy contractor defaults or arrange for completion of the work by another qualified contractor, with costs deducted from the remaining contract balance.
The performance bond obligates the contractor and surety jointly and severally to ensure completion of the roof replacement work in accordance with all contract specifications, drawings, and conditions, including the installation of TPO or PVC membrane roofing covering approximately 111,920 square feet, removal and replacement of deteriorated decking, installation of roof insulation, flashings, and accessories. The bond protects the City of Meriden's interests by providing financial recourse should the contractor fail to complete the project or meet contractual obligations, including adherence to the substantial completion deadline of 15 days after Notice to Proceed with final completion 15 days thereafter, prevailing wage requirements, minority and small business enterprise set-asides, and all quality assurance and control requirements specified in the contract documents.
