About this file
This is an Insurance Requirements document for the City of Meriden, Connecticut, establishing mandatory coverage standards for contractors and vendors engaged in municipal contracts. The document specifies comprehensive insurance requirements that must remain in force throughout the contract period, with the City of Meriden named as an Additional Insured on a primary and non-contributory basis for all policies except Workers' Compensation. All insurance carriers must be approved in Connecticut and maintain a minimum AM Best's rating of "A-"VIII. Contractors must provide original, completed Certificates of Insurance prior to contract issuance and supply replacement or renewal certificates at least 30 days before policy expiration dates. Any policy cancellations, limit reductions, or coverage alterations require 30 days' written notice to the City of Meriden.
The minimum insurance limits required include General Liability coverage of $1,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 for both General Aggregate and Products/Completed Operations Aggregate; Auto Liability of $1,000,000 each for per occurrence and aggregate; and Workers' Compensation at statutory limits with Employers' Liability limits of $1,000,000 per accident, per employee disease, and policy limit. All policies must include a Waiver of Subrogation. Claims Made policies require continuous renewal for a minimum of two years following contract completion, with expiring policies endorsed to extend reporting periods accordingly. These requirements apply to the Edison Middle School Roof Replacement project in Meriden, Connecticut, which involves PVC membrane roofing installation and must comply with applicable Connecticut building codes and State Department of Administrative Services requirements.
