About this file
This is a Performance Bond document template for the City of Meriden, Connecticut, related to contract opportunity B026-42 Columbus Avenue Cul-de-sac. The bond secures contractor performance on a project involving construction of a cul-de-sac at the south end of Columbus Avenue and a multi-use path between Columbus Avenue and Marina Court. Work includes removal of existing pavement, regrading, construction of a 48-foot radius cul-de-sac, and an 8-foot wide stone dust multi-use path. The project is anticipated to commence in Spring 2026, with the selected contractor required to prepare a construction schedule for presentation at a pre-construction meeting and coordinate with homeowners regarding property access disruptions during construction. Temporary access will be provided to minimize resident disruption.
The Performance Bond establishes joint and several liability between the contractor and surety to ensure faithful performance of contract obligations. The bond amount is to be specified by the Owner, with the surety waiving notice of alterations, defaults, or contract extensions made by the Owner. Upon contractor default, the Owner may pursue completion through the lowest responsible bidder or arrange joint determination with the surety. The surety's liability is limited to the balance of the contract price plus reasonable completion costs and damages. Any legal action under the bond must be instituted within two years from the date final payment under the contract falls due, and the bond is binding only on the named Owner and its successors, with no rights of action available to other parties.
