About this file

The document is a detailed requirements specification for digitizing test procedures for the In-Space Propulsion Branch. The primary objectives include increasing test procedure reliability, reducing generation and approval time, enabling real-time test execution tracking, and creating a comprehensive, searchable archive of experimental data. Key capabilities sought include transferring procedures between cloud and isolated systems, complying with ITAR and DoD security regulations, implementing robust version control, supporting collaborative editing and approvals, tracking hardware and consumables, allowing PDF exports with annotation capabilities, linking test procedures with real-time data monitoring, running post-processing scripts, and maintaining a detailed record of test anomalies and observations.

The requirements emphasize advanced features such as converting paper-based procedures to digital formats, building test procedures from templates, enabling multi-user editing and approvals, generating pre-approval timelines, tracking hardware assemblies, allowing deviation approvals, linking test data in real-time, and creating a comprehensive archival system that connects test procedures, data, reports, and hardware usage. The solution must support security requirements including ITAR compliance and minimum DoD Information Level 4 (IL4) security standards, with IL5 being preferred, and must provide granular access controls to protect proprietary and sensitive information.

Text version

The In-Space Propulsion Branch is looking to digitize the generation, approval, execution, and archiving test procedures. The overall goal is to increase the reliability while decrease the time required to generate & approve test procedures, provide real time tracking of test execution, provide a searchable archive of past tests, land ink tests with their products (data, repots, …).

• Transfer test procedure between cloud and isolated systems

• Comply with ITAR regulations and minimum of DoD IL4, IL5 preferred

• Assign restrictions to test templates and entire tests, to protect proprietary and sensitive data

• Ease the generation and approval of test procedures:

o Convert existing paper-based test procedures and to a digital form o Build up test procedures from existing templates o Save portions of a test procedure as a template for reuse o Have version control on templates and full procedures o Identify new and changed portions of a test procedure o Allow multiple users to edit test procedures o Allow for multiple people to approve steps in a test procedure o Generate timeline for preapprovals, e.g. need safety approval 1 week prior to test

• Hardware and consumables:

o Track hardware assembly and calibration instructions o Maintain a list of available hardware and consumables o Identify which hardware and consumables are scheduled to be used for test

• Runing a Test:

o Export test procedure as PDF o Allow “red lines” through portions of the test o Allow for the option to approve deviations from test procedure o Link test procedure with data from test, e.g. LabView, to provide real time monitoring of test conditions

• Post Processing o Run post processing scripts on collected data

• Archiving o A searchable record of “as run” experiments approved changes o Link data, post processing scripts, and reports to a test or tests o Track which hardware was used on which tests o Track test anomalies, failures, and observations
