About this file

This document is a Salient Characteristics Commercial Availability Certification related to a Sources Sought notice for a federal contract opportunity. The government requires one (1) molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) compatible ion beam source for growing cubic boron nitride. The required specifications include compatibility with a Gen-II ultra-high vacuum MBE system on a 4.5" ConFlat flange, compatibility with nitrogen and argon gases at flow rates up to 10 sccm, ability to generate plasma at up to 500W RF power with auto-tuning, produce ions with energies up to 400 eV via accelerating grids, and achieve an ion current density greater than 0.03 mA/cm2. Delivery is required within 16 weeks after receipt of order to the Army Research Laboratory in Adelphi, MD. The Sources Sought notice is a market research tool to identify interested and qualified small and large businesses, including small disadvantaged firms, to potentially compete for this future solicitation, which will be numbered W911QX24Q0185.

Signature (typed name): _David Storm (FCDD-RLA-LE)________________________ Technical Point of Contact (TPOC)

The Government requires a quantity of one (1) molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) compatible Ion beam source required for growth of cubic boron nitride in accordance with the following specifications:

· The contractor shall provide an Ion Beam source compatible with a Gen-II ultra-high vacuum (UHV) molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) system; in particular, the unit must be mounted on a 4.5 inch (”) ConFlat (CF) flange;

· The contractor shall provide a unit that is compatible with Nitrogen (N2) and argon (Ar) source gases at flow rates up to 10 standard cubic centimeters per minute (sccm);

· The contractor shall provide a unit that generates a plasma at a radio frequency (RF) forward operating power of up to 500 watts (W) with auto-tuning capability;

· The contractor shall provide a unit that produces ions with energies up to 400 electron volts (eV) via accelerating grids;

· The contractor shall provide a unit that produces an ion current density of greater than 0.03 mA/cm2 milliamperes per square centimeter (mA/cm2).

· Delivery to 2800 Powder Mill Road Adelphi, MD 20783 no later than sixteen (16) weeks After Receipt of Order (ARO).
