About this file
This document is a Salient Characteristics template for a federal contract solicitation for an automated tissue dissociator system. The U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM) Army Research Laboratory (ARL) requires a system that can process a minimum of eight independent samples, independently heat each sample up to 37 degrees Celsius, produce single cell and nuclei suspensions from various tissue types and animal sources, and handle tissue inputs between 10-4000 milligrams. The system must fit into a standard biosafety cabinet (68" x 20" x 28") and the contractor must provide a four-year warranty or preventative maintenance plan.
Delivery is required within twelve weeks after contract award to Aberdeen Proving Ground North in Gunpowder, Maryland 21010, with shipping via FOB Destination. The solicitation allows for one or more systems to meet the specifications, and the contractor must provide a Commercial Availability Certification confirming that these specifications are available in the commercial marketplace. The template is dated 07/28/2016 and the contracting officer's signature page is dated 9/29/2025, indicating this is a current or future procurement opportunity for specialized laboratory equipment.

2. System/s configuration must be able to independently heat (up to 37 degrees Celsius) each sample being processed during a run.
3. System/s configuration must be capable of producing single cell suspensions and nuclei suspensions from a variety of tissue types (e.g. heart, brain, spleen, liver) from a variety of animals (e.g. mouse, rat, sheep).
4. System/s configuration must be capable of handling a broad range of input tissue amounts (e.g. approximately 10 - 4000 milligrams (mg) of tissue).
5. Cumulative system/s configuration footprint must be capable of fitting into a standard biosafety cabinet with dimensions of 68 inches (”) in length by 20” in depth by 28” in height.
6. The contractor shall provide a four (4) year warranty and/or preventative maintenance plan to ensure the system is calibrated and running accurately in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
7. Shall be shipped via FOB Destination to Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG), Maryland 21010 (full address below).
