About this file

This document is a specifications sheet for a 36-inch Professional 60W CO2 Laser System procurement. The organization is requesting to purchase an Epilog or equivalent laser system to provide in-house fabrication and marking capabilities for aerospace maintenance operations. The system will eliminate manual cutting and engraving processes, reducing maintenance downtime and man-hours while improving accuracy and repeatability.

The 60-watt air-cooled CO2 laser system features a 36" x 24" workspace with 10" maximum Z-depth clearance, capable of engraving speeds up to 120 inches per second with 5G peak acceleration. Key technical specifications include high-speed brushless DC servo motors with rotary encoding, advanced double-wide Kevlar precision drive belts, and ground/polished stainless steel self-lubricating bearings. The system incorporates an integrated dual-overhead camera vision system for real-time positioning with user-controlled optical resolution from 75 to 1200 DPI, integrated air assist for heat and gas management, and safety shielding with Class 2 Laser Product rating. Connectivity options include built-in Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and USB 2.0/3.0, with a 7-inch LED touchscreen for on-machine control and 1 GB on-board RAM for job storage. The cabinet measures 53.52" W x 32.81" D x 38.04" H and weighs approximately 260 pounds. The system will support applications across Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE), Low Observable (LO) maintenance, and Metals Technology for fabricating data plates, instructional panels, safety placards, gaskets, masking films, stencils, templates, jigs, fixtures, and permanent markings on various materials including anodized aluminum, stainless steel, and titanium components.

Salient Characteristics of 36-inch Professional 60W CO2 Laser System

We are requesting to purchase the 36-inch Professional 60W CO2 Laser System. This system is a sophisticated technology that will provide critical in-house fabrication and marking capabilities. The system’s features eliminate the need for manual cutting and engraving processes, thereby providing a more accurate, repeatable, and faster workflow.

Complex jobs can be completed in minutes, which translates directly into the ability to reduce maintenance downtime and decrease man-hours—all critical savings.

The system's high-speed servo motors, capable of 5G acceleration and speeds up to 120 inches per second, enable rapid project completion. The integrated dual-camera vision system provides a live overhead view of the entire work area, allowing technicians to precisely place designs on any material, minimizing setup time and drastically reducing material waste. For applications across diverse maintenance fields, this system offers unparalleled flexibility and precision.

For Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE), the laser enables the rapid fabrication of replacement data plates, instructional panels, and safety placards for all equipment.

Technicians can also precision-cut custom gaskets from rubber or silicone for legacy equipment, mitigating supply chain shortages. Furthermore, it is invaluable for engraving tools to maintain strict accountability.

For Low Observable (LO) maintenance, the system's high resolution is utilized to cut intricate masking films and stencils for the precise application of radar-absorbent materials and specialized coatings. The camera system ensures these templates are cut to the exact, complex geometries of aircraft panels, which reduces manual errors and minimizes the waste of expensive consumable materials.

For Metals Technology, the system is heavily utilized to create high-tolerance acrylic and Delrin templates, jigs, and fixtures, which are used to accelerate complex machining, welding, and sheet metal fabrication setups. Additionally, the laser is essential for permanently etching part numbers and identification codes onto anodized aluminum components or using laser-marking sprays to create permanent, high-contrast marks on bare stainless steel and titanium parts.
