About this file
This Salient Characteristics document outlines detailed specifications for two pieces of electric cabling equipment for the 21st Civil Engineering Squadron: a Trailer Mounted Cable Puller/Tugger and a Three Reel Turret Cable Trailer. The Trailer Mounted Cable Puller/Tugger requires a diesel engine, electric brakes, hydraulic jacks, RF remote-controlled hydraulic boom with extensive movement capabilities, a minimum 2,000 ft steel pulling cable, and a minimum pulling capacity of 7,500 lbs. It must include a tensiometer, digital electronic load recorder, digital display for machine operations, and underground blocks for various pipe sizes.
The Three Reel Turret Cable Trailer must have air brakes, tandem axles, LED lighting, and pintle eye towing. It should support reel sizes up to 84" x 60" x 8,000 lbs each, with 360-degree turrets that lock at 15-degree increments. The trailer requires eight 10,000 lb capacity cam followers per reel, sealed quick-release bearings, 16" disc-caliper overspin brakes, five manual drop & pin jacks, one hydraulic retriever per reel, and a power pack to support hydraulic front and rear stabilizers. The power pack can be gasoline or diesel-powered.
